I think James Clement would be a good option of playing Full Forward for Collingwood I mean he's a very strong mark overhead took 5 contested marks in RD 1 and he kicks it as straight as it gets. When he played for Freo he once kicked 5 goals and 4 the following week playing forward. I don't think it will damage the backline heaps because they still have Wakelin, Presti & Maxwell. I think he should play 1 half forward and 1 half back like Adam Hunter who is used so effectively like that.

It's too late for him. Made his name as a defender at Collingwood, let alone the AFL.
An All-Australian defender, and not to mention the back-to-back club best and fairests.

It would be nice to have a defender we can swing forward and kick goals, but its not likely to happen with Clement. Maxwell is more likely to fill this role. Hopefully Brown Reid Dawes and Travis Cloke will be more versatile in teh future than Rocca Presti Clement and Wakelin have been in the past.

i think this is a valid option too,not for a full half but just every now and then for 10 minutes,just to mix it up a bit and make the opposition change their team around

Unfortunatly we have MM as our coach who does not think outside the square enough,if at all

Yer because he is one of the best overhead marks in the league along with Brad Johnson, Brett Ebert & Paul Medhurst. He'd be in the same mould as Adam Hunter only a stronger kick, better defender but I don't about forward because we've hardly seen Clement play up there. Whereas Hunter when he does kicks his 1-2 a game espeically in pressure cooker situations mainly agains the Swans.

I havent seen him miss a shot on goal yet. He always has shots from 40m + and always kicks them well. MM LOVES doing this with his players, Maxwell, J Cloke, he even did it to Presti on ANZAC day a few yrs ago.

Why not Clement? We say we have all the tall stars coming through, why not give Brown, O'Brien, Reid, Stanley ect. an opportunity to stand up in defence? A simultanous opportunity instead of throwing them in the deep end when we have injuries or after Clement and Wakelin have retired.
This way, if they aren't doing too well in the game, you just switch Clement back to defence and give them a go elsewhere.

Its a very good idea, Im suprised no one has thought of this earlier because thats EXACTLY what MM should've done on the weekend.

Clement was playing poor, so throw him up at half forward as a big marking option and place Cloke at half back.

To use the old cliche, if it aint broke don't fix it .... well James aint broke so don't try and make him fix the forward line. I hear what every one is saying but is he such a big cog in the backline it's alot more than simply having someone the same height or build as him to "fit" into his position.
