oh so its FC averages thats important...

david Hussey's FC average is one of the best in the competition, has be for a fair few years, even superior to Katich's.

and what was Michael Clarke's FC average when he was selected for the test side?

whats his FC average now?

Averages arent that important its opportunities.
In the time Clarke got dropped from the test team he averaged something like 200 over the course of the domestic season. A spot opened again for him and he was far and away the best candidate.
Katich did the same last year - after he was dropped he scored 1500 runs in one season - 500 runs more than the next player (which was not dave hussey). Jacques got injured and he was far and out the best candidate.

To get picked there has to be an opening, AND the candidate has to be having a substantially better season than any other candidate.

Having a good season/s and being a Victorian is not good enough.
