Received a mention on today's NIB Medical Room. Did it at training so faces a few weeks on the sidelines. Explains why he was absent from the VFL at the weekend.

Daniel McL - try to hold yourself together buddy.
 
Is Jansen a realistic chance of being in our best 22 this year and playing some type of role ?

If he could just come in and use his big body to some effect at the clearances it would help us significantly. He doesn't have to star , just play a role .

At the moment no. But that doesn't mean he can't be in 4-5 months' time. If he can get a good run of consistent form up in the VFL, who knows.
 
So many young players have had their preparation and development curtailed by injury over the last 2-3-4 years. No wonder we are struggling with the 24-28 age bracket.

Brown.
Menzel.
Vardy.
Hunt.
Cowan.
Hogan (depression).
Smedts.
Motlop.
Simpson.
McCarthy.
Kersten.
Burbury.
Even going back to Egan - who would be 28 now - and in the bracket!

Now JJ. :cry:

It's a hamstring injury,not a major injury like knee [Menzel,Vardy] or foot [McCarthy] or busted leg [Brown].
Wouldn't put his injury in the same basket as the others mentioned.

VFL- Yes

Yeah, I agree. Wouldn't think there are too many mids at all that haven't had major injuries that make it after not debuting in the first two.

Its not like he is trying to get into our 07 side. There are spots if you are good enough. Why else do we play Gregson and Cockatoo.

It worried me a fair bit that we didn't see him in the NAB games.

he didn't do enough to justify selection.
Having said that, Jordan Schroder, Josh Walker, Jackson Thurlow and Jake Kolodjashnij did enough to warrant a few games last year but only two of them got an opportunity and not much of an opportunity either.

yep' it's going on 8 long years since it was the last time we saw Egan running around up in the hoops. Flies by and yet, that day up at the Gabba is still very vivid to me.
 
He seemed to start well last season but now finds himself behind a few. I have not seen a lot of him, but there are just a few signs that they may already prefer others. He is going to have to really earn his game.

I would not be expecting him to be a Joel Corey type (one of our greatest ever midfielders).....I can probably rule that out for you right now.
