With our obvious lack of key backman, especially the position of CHB, I would like to pose the question of whether there could be a possibility young Waite could have a crack at the position in the pre-season?

This may sound a tad silly considering he played the majority of his first year as a wingman come half forward as well as his relatively light body frame.

I have a feeling we are going to see a lot bigger, taller and stronger J.Waite next year. To me he still looks like he is developing in his body and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't take on a key position role in the next year or two.

I think he has all the attributes to be a brilliant, attacking CHB. He is fast, he has excellent closing speed, he is courageous, he keeps his eye on the ball, he takes the opposition on and he kicks long.

It might sound stupid but it is a exciting and tantalising thought.

Agree but Waite is going to need time to bulk up. I think/hope we have the luxury of playing him off the bench next year and giving time as needed at various positions, ie. Wing, hb, hf.

Players such as Fisher and Waite need time to develop. Hopefully with the recruiting we have and will complete, this will be allowed.

Would prefer to see Kouta at CHB last year. With the midfiled talent we secured in the trade period (Scotland, Johnson and McGrath) plus Campo, Hulme, Houlihan and McCormick and with they likely inclusion of Stevens, there is a fair rotation through the midfield.

Would doubt we'll ever see Kouta back to his best, so why not let him develop into a leader on the backline and help out guys like Thornton, Wiggins, Teague, etc, etc..

Would leave Waite on the wing where he can be at his damaging best!!

Waite is certainly tall enough for the position at 191cm, but he needs to be able to play a free running game, on a flank or the wing, this will allow for his natural flair to shine through. He is also to light for the position

Just like to tell everyone that this was my first ever post/thread on bigfooty back in 2003. ;)

Not a bad start Kooley!

hahah look at the sheiks comment... true but i thought Waite did alright dropping back in front of J brown aswell.

Ahead of your time Kooley, but I'm still not sure how defensive Waite is. He certainly makes a great attacking backman at the moment. However, when you look at the difference between Thornton and Waite you see that Thornton, while also offensively strong, is still a better defender. The way he put himself in front of Brown in the final underlined that.

Still, you can't criticise how the back six has performed this last month. They've been superb. More of the same please.
