They were both written off because they were "too small" and it really does look as if Blair will make it as an AFL player.
Bit hard to make that call based on 0 AFL games.

He did play well though and I hope he keeps his solid form up.

Yeah, it is a bit of a tough call to mark so early in a rookie's career, but I was only trying to make a point that others were "left out" of the initial draft prospect because of their height, yet went on and became top league footballers.

I firmly believe that if Blair keeps up this form, he will be seriously considered for elevation to the senior list, if not late this season, at least prior to the draft(s) later in the year.

I just hope like most, he can keep up his good form, he makes the VFL side a better side, not too many 18-19 year olds can even do that at that level.

Well, Hine did make the statement that they rookied guys who they think, above all else, will have a real chance of being elevated to the senior list. That makes sense when you consider the likely talent available in the 2010 draft.

In 2010, aside from the obvious pillaging of the talent pool by the GC17, the other big factor is that an elevated rookie (one) can count as a drafted player. As we're unlikely to want to draft three kids as is usually the case, due to the dilution of the pool, we're going to want rookies that are showing something.

Reed will probably already be on the senior list.
Dyas will have to either be on the senior list or cut by then, possibly sooner.
Keeffe will probably already be on the senior list.
Thoolen is probably lucky to be on the rookie list currently, so who knows at the end of 2010?

That leaves Blair, Bennell, Francis, possibly Camilleri, and anyone else we rookie in this year's rookie draft... which has got to give Blair a very decent chance of promotion by at least the end of his rookie contract.
