Jason Kidd

Just finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists and 4 steals against the Pacers, the Nets major rival in the East.

That is Jason Kidd's 6th triple double this season, to give him 56 in his career. An amazing feat given no other current player has even half that many.

Kidd is a real chance to get over the magic 100 career triple doubles, so far only 2 players have achieved the feat (Oscar and Magic).

On the season he is now averaging 16.3ppg, 6.6rpg, 9.7apg and 1.9spg.

Who was the cretin who said Kidd was the third best PG in the league?

Currently he IMO is the best point gurad....the only concern I have about Jason is that over his career he has continually run teamates and coaches out of town, and has been subsequently traded...

Seems to be happening again with Byron Scott, Van Horn and Matumbo...

Harsh. Van Horn was dealt because Jefferson and Martin were slowly taking his spot, and the fans had had enough of his poor defensive efforts.

Deke left because he didn't fit their style, and because they'd just signed Zo.

Cassell is having a much better year then Francis.

I believe Francis only has two double-doubles all year, a very ordinary effort so far.

Also, on form Arenas and J Will would have to go in ahead of Van Exel.

Do not agree....

Van Exel has maintained GS on pace for a first play offs experiance in a long time... Despite the overall list having less talent then last year.

J Will has improved out of sight and is becoming a good point guard, however his defence is still suspect and his shot selection, whilst greatly improved, at times still lets him down.

Arenas has been injured for much of the year though when fit he will be a better point guard, just not this year...

They are equal 10th in the west, hardly on pace for a playoff appearance.

I know stats aren't everything, but J-Will has significantly better figures in most areas. He has more assists and steals, and less turnovers. Those three areas are a pretty good indication of a PG's value.

On top of that, Memphis have a better record.

Seems pretty conclusive to me.

Note conclusive at all...

Firstly GSW are ninth in their conference and as far as I am concerned that is play off contention...Ohh and note that Grizzlies are 10th one below GSW.

Basically the stats are comprable Nick is slightly better scores and a more accurate one, J Will gets more steals, better on free throw line and assists. Turnovers are on par given that Nick plays on average 6 more minutes per game.

Nick through out his career has done two things well and continues to do so now. He sets the tempo of the game and is IMO one of better clutch shooters in the league. Something that this Warriors team needs him to do. Where as J Will is still learining how to control the tempo and as peeviously stated by me can at times play out of control.

Also if you asked most people where Warriors would be at the start of the season most would have said last place in the conference. Nicks on court leadership is one reason why they are still in play off contention.

Hence based on GSW being above Grizzlies, GSW probably having less talent and Nick's contribution to maximising this talent I rate him above J Will.

Also interesting to note that the Grizzlies poor form started when JWill got hurt, the Grizzlies record when JWill is fit AND playing his 30-35 minutes a night is excellent, without him, it is atrocious.

That is something NVE cannot lay claim to. The Warriors record without him is remarkably similar to their record with him.

I'd take JWill every time, he is the better pure point guard, the figures back that up, but each to their own.
