Jay Schultz wants to return to Adelaide and you be able to get him pretty cheap , 3rd round pick or so. ALright he hasn't been the best performer, but he has potential (12th pick in 2002) and has shown it on occasions. At another club he might find some constant form, like Rodan has. He started this year alright for us kicking 11 goals in his first 5 games and he's only 22. What do you guys think? Maybe a straight swap for Meesen is on the cards if he wants to return home to Melbourne.

He would definitely be handy in your forward line atleast till Hentshal gets back, otherwise who's your tall target?
 
Tippett, Gill, Hentschel, Bock, Burton, Stevens, Maric, Griffin, Biglands, Welsh, anyone except Schulz. Also this guy is on our rookie list and stands at 372cm. Could probably get more touches than Schulz.

Don't think I like the idea of a straight swap for Meesen. I know Meesen hasn't done anything, but I wouldn't mind getting a bit more out of him, and maybe a draft pick, or packaged for a better player.

I wouldn't mind Schultz coming to the Crows if he was wanting to return home, but I would not give too much for him. If we are able to get him with a very cheap pick, or a Luke Jericho, I would take it. Other than that I can't see the Crows going too hard at him. We have quite a few tall forwards who just aren't quite good enough, and that's all Schultz is at the moment.
 
So you say he is worth perhaps a 3rd round pick and then proceed to say perhaps a swap for Meesen may be on the cards. That would suggest yo think Meesen is only worth a 3rd rounder ?

I'd be happy to have a crack at Schultz for a 3rd rounder. In a weak draft, that's a low risk trade for us as the boy has got some ability.

Meesen for Schultz --> No way.

This is not a troll on my part so I hope it is seen on face value. What do the Crows consider a fair draft pick for Meesen? I suppose I'm in the minority that I think Meesen for Schultz is not that unreasonable........

Do you want a high pick for Meesen because you originally got him for a 1st round pick? Does his form with Norwood warrant a good draft pick? Or going down the big men take longer to develop path so his best it yet to come.

Both players were picked up with 1st round draft picks. There is only a year or so difference in age, Schultz has played 49 AFL games to Meesen 2. I think Schultz has played some decent games. Obviously the bag of 6 against Brisbane in 2004 was probably his best game. But a couple of bags of 3 goals this year, and like Meesen has had some injury dramas.
 
While I wouldn't trade Meesen for Schulz, I definetly wouldn't write off having a crack at bringing Schulz in for a reasonable price.

Never under-estimate how BAD Richmond is with developing and the USING their players. They would have to be one of the worst at it. Just have a look at Rodan and while Torney was a good player with Richmond, he has gone up a couple of notches since we got him. Just look what they have done to Kane Johnson ;)

Anyway enough of bagging :p, If the rumours of McGregor being traded are true, don't be surprised if we do go after Schulz and be less surprised if he proves to be a very good pick up for us. He gives us a young but mature big body to replace McGregor and Perrie. He has some experience and can play both forward and back which is a big tick for Craig IMHO.

There are a number of players I wouldn't mind getting from Richmond because in a better environment and with better coaching and system, they would be much better players. Schulz is one of those player especially if you get him on the cheap ;)
 
He has managed 10 possessions or more in only 6 of his 49 games of AFL football.

Perrie at the same age would have done better. FLOP!
 
I hope we can pick up Meyer one way or another. Hes lightning quick can play midfield or forward and was awesome before Richmond got their hands on him. I reckon he could become a great player at the crows. If he wants to come home and has been playing badly because of it (which is what has been reported) then we could prob pick him up fairly cheaply. He may even be delisted meaning we could pick him up the the PSD(more than likely wishful thinking unless then have learned nothing from the Rodan situation)
 
Stiffy is right, Schulz would be worth a look for the right price. My point was moreso a reaction to the notion that we desperately need a million average tall forwards, when that is something we have an over-abundance of.

Yeah just like Rodan he's another one of those players we struggle to develope, eventually he'll get delisted and some smart club will pick him up and turn him into a player, just the way it is.

It going to happen this year to Krakouer and he'll get picked up and next year average 16-18 possies and goal per game for whoever.

There is one major difference. He isnt demanding to be traded to one particular club. If he decides to go home, I'm pretty sure he'd go to any Vic. club.

No, he could walk straight into Richmond. We still get the number 1 PSD pick.

Doesn't matter for us really, won't cost much. Just because he was a first round pick some of you guys feel your entitled to a first round pick. Don't be surprised if he ends up being traded for a player like Schultz, if not him.

Realistically look he's not shown much at Norwood in the SANFL and only played 2 matches in 3 years. Least Schultz has played nearly 50 matches and is only a year or two older than him. And you know when a player leaves Richmond there is room for improvement!

We'll be fairly compensated.

The lack of quality ruckman at clubs in Victoria will lead to us getting something decent back.

Probably a pick around the 20 range OR a pick upgrade.

I'd rather both over Jay, who struggles to get a game in the worst side in the competition.

This is the year we punt our average/dud forwards, why the hell would we take more on?

I don't want Schultz, I don't want Johns. Draft Pick please :thumbsu:

Krakeouer is going to be de-listed? I would pick him up for sure. We still need that quick, cumbing forward. It's a bloody hard role to play, especially when the Tigers aren't the best side, think he could do some good things at Adelaide.

He does have a slight problem though.

He's facing serious criminal assault charges with intent to injure that are likely to attract a jail sentence if found guilty.

That would be a slight impediment to making a contribution. :)

Schultz's stats over the course of his career are ordinary. As someone said he's got more than 10 touches in only 6 games ? Doesn't seem to work hard enough for my mind.

I'd rate Meesen at around draft pick 15 - 25. Started to play well this year and in a weak draft, a pick of about 20 would probably be fair.

Schultz has struggled to make the grade at Richmond and has proved to be inconsistent. I'd be prepared to give up our 3rd rounder for him, but not our 2nd and definitely not our 1st.
