25 Jay Schulz ...

he has potenial we all know that !

but obviously, where is his best position ?

CHB ???

FF ???

i like him at FF ! but was inconsistant there in 2006.

2007, keep him in the forward line !

:thumbsu:

Did you actually watch him play ?

Went something like 5-6 weeks of 2-3 goals

I love Schulzy. He's an exciting player but he's just too inconsistent. He's been hampered by injury and it's cost him a lot of development but I'm sure he can get his game together and play a pivotal role in the Tigers future.

Has all the tools just needs to use them. I don't think that game against Brissy was a once off.

the summer should be spent trying to work out how to make Richo and Shultz work together in the foward line, and making our midfield capable of looking past richos leads

This is the reason i dont think the tiges wil win a flag - til Richo retires. I watched Sarge a lot last yr...and he was leading beautifully -only to have the ball kicked over his head to richo one out...or to richo on another lead out wide. Jay is definitely a natural forward - he leads hard down the guts and is a great shot for goal. A Schulz FF and Hughes CHF ...combination will be the one that will take us to our next flag.....they kinda have to !!!!

The forward line of the future is a massive jigsaw. Patto had an article written on him last year titled 'The next CHF?' on afl.com. I suppose until he begins to trust his own boot a bit more, rather than looking to hand it off, Hughes may be the prime candidate for the role whilst Patto waits for Simmo to retire, which is a while off.

i have some concerns about jay . he`s been in the system long enough to at least have made minimal impact on the game , and i think he has fallen short in that respect .
this could be his sink or swim season coming up in 07 .

ATM Patto plays a bit like Aaron Sandilands at the start of his carrer ie: Not liking to kick a whole lot, filling the gaps a bit not moving around to much.

But as we have seen with Sandilands and hopefully what Patto can do is get more mobility into him and more fitness.

I shall cross my fingers and hope.

Dud - no awareness of who's around him - can only mark when leading into space when he's hit on the chest - gets pushed off the ball - and hides behind his long sleeve jumper (which means he's got no biceps and he's conscious of it) - he's been in the system too long and he's the RFC modern day version of Justin Plapp. Could've dumped the dud now. Just a waste of a spot keeping him.
2007 will be his last year.

Not true, he's massive, he just prefers the long sleeved jumper. It's his look.
Lids is a big kid too and he prefers the long sleeves as well

Thats garbage, consistantly runs back with the flight of the ball, throwing himself at the contest, if he doesnt take the screamer he creates spillage, attacks the pill like a forward should. Has a lot of courage does the sarge

Thats rubbish, how mand duds have bagged 6 on Mal Micheal.

I would like to point out that Jay has never had a full pre-season followed by a 22 game year without some FING setback

Just when he was about to claim CHB he broke his ankle in a pre-season match.

Last year, he was mangled by Hamill He returned to post a consistent run of 2-3 goal games. Promising signs. He should of played against Hawhtorn after 11 goals in 2 weeks at VFL level, but was held back by TW. The kid lacks confidence, people forget he is a kid perhaps because he looks mature for his age.

He is big, has a great leap, strong pair of hands and is a accurate kick. Needs to believe in himself, and stop thinking that he is playing second fiddle to Richo.

Expect a big 2007 from Schulz.

4 seasons is plenty of time and plenty of patience. Time to put up.

If he doesnt come good in 2007, he's just another Ottens

He'll still have trade value next year so if he doesn't come up in 07 then we can still get something for him. He's a required player at the moment though.

sure did.

when he came back. from round 13 - round 21 he kick goals. Yes that is right.

but only kicked goals and didn't do much after that !

most in a match he got was 3 in round 13! after that was 2 and 1.

that is not bad, but can do more damage !

That passage of play you are pointing out Bents is by far and away my favourite 15 seconds of football for that year. Everything was great text book grunt at the pill stuff, as well as perfect positioning from the players involved.
