Geez fairly harsh, Post wasn't great, but he wasn't as bad as some are making out. In the first half I saw him make some nice spoils on Kruezer. Fact of the matter is, Carlton scored 180 points. No one looked good yesterday, and being a defender when the opposition kick that big a score your obviously not going to look great.

Interesting that Rance is now our best defender, and will be a pretty decent one too. Who would have thought that 12 months ago. Post should be given atleast til the end of the year, if not another year. He hasn't been great, but Rance and Vickery have shown it's worth persisting with talls, give him another year I say.

I hope you're right, but whilst i'm no expert i have played in defence my whole football career and reserve my right to an opinion, and that is that he's not cut out for defence.

Played defence my whole career as well. Played in sides that were good enough to win premierships and played in sides that got smacked like we were yesterday but only worse talking 40 goal hidings. Now given I was good enough to play in those premierships and was then part of sides that got thumped does that make me a shit defender or does it make me a victim of circumstance?

Fact is Post was drafted as a CHB and I believe we stuffed him around by trying to turn him into a forward, then when that didn't work we throw him down back again and then back again. Would it hurt them to actually put a kid like him into a position and develop him in the one position before they try and make him into a spare parts utility type.

If you want to delude yourself then go ahead, he had plenty of time to time his leap and spoil the ball. Like I said, i play park football and an average joe like me could see blatant defensive deficiencies in his game.

You have NFI....we lost by 100 points and Kruezer played the majority of the game forward on Post.

He had 9 touches 3 marks and kicked a point when the rest of his side ran a muck. I would say Post well and truly beat him. In fact I would say that is a fair pasting considering...

One of us must have watched the wrong game, the ball rarely went to Kreuzer for starters.

I stand by my rating of Post, no defensive awareness whatsoever. Where he stands, how he gets bumped aside too easily, looking lost... i could go on but won't.

How do you explain then that he kept his opponent who is 200cm to 3 marks in a 100 point win. They kicked to Kruezer quite a bit actually in the first and second quarter and Post came away with the chocolates. I think your criticism is unwarranted towards a 3rd year KPD. If the midfield gave any sort of pressure it would make Post look even better.

I am not saying he is flawless he will still make msitakes as he has only played about 20 games but I liked his game and I think we should be looking at guys like jackson, Grigg ect first.

i disagree, post is a defender, he just isnt that good. however yesterday was not his worst game and like it has been said when the ball comes in that much there really isnt much he can do.

I'm not really a fan of Post, but he isn't the one that deserves an ass kicking after Saturday's game. He was better than Thursty, and it was a tough day for all the KPD with the one sided slaughter going on in the centre.

People need to lay off our tall defenders. Silvagni, Jakovich, and Scarlett would have looked like hacks if they were constantly under the pressure our blokes face week to week. Rance was rarely beaten 1 on 1 yesterday, and Post did enough to earn another game.

Why would anyone be wanting Post out in the first place. Anyone at 195cm with skill and composure who can take marks like he did when he played his first few games must be played until he is firmly cemented in the side. This guy has serious talent and is capable of being an excellent back up ruck/key position player. To make a comment such as 'he won't make it' at this point in his career is a complete guess and a show of personal dislike

Rance was under incredible pressure all day on Saturday but did a marvelous job - took risks to run off his player at times and was gutsy.

I hope he makes it, but i'm iffy about it.

For what it's worth I was iffy about Vickery at the start of the year too, and he's come along well... hopefully Posty does too

it might be a guess, but its an educated guess based on his lack of skill and composure, in fact he looks like he lacks intensity or any sense of reading the play.

i really hope he proves me wrong, but he does not look like a footballer to me.

the only occasion he looked remotely like an AFL player for mine was as a spare parts ruck, not sure why he wasn't put up in that role whilst browne was SLAUGHTERED..and whilst not in spare parts ruck, drift forward. He lacks the footy nous to be a defender, has NO radar when ball is in the air, looks to be afraid of body contact

When did Post actually get towelled up? Like I said earlier in this thread in reply to one of your posts....he kept Kruezer to 9 touches, 3 marks and 0 goals when there side kicked 30? HOW HAS HE NOT DONE HIS JOB.

The people bagging post here are most likely the same ones that bagged Rance. He might make it, he might not.....what you need to do though is give the kid a F***** chance and don't write off a 195cm KPP in there first 20 games.

I see a bit in him but they simply have to play him regularly to give him a chance. If they delisted him at the end of the year I'd be very upset as it would be Cleave Hughes all over again. They need to show him the same faith they've had with Batchelor I reckon. Only then we'll see results. It will happen pretty fast too if they leave him in for the last 8 rounds.

He was very promising in 2009. Reckon his off field problems had a lot to do with his delisting
