There are other things at play than just that.

We need a real change and for standards to be lifted to the Port of old.

We have to get rid of players who have bad attitudes.
We have to get rid of players who play well in the last year of their contracts.
We have to get rid of players who are just not up to it.

It's been 13 years of Purgatory and a few statements have to be made to the playing group that the mediocrity of the Hinkley years will not be tolerated.

I'm told it's not a weak draft just not a top end draft. SA won the U18s so hopefully we have a few tucked away.

In the real world you set standards by moving on players who are not justifying their spot.

Georgiades, Richards and now McEntee are the only forwards to do it all year.

We have players that cant even meet basic reqirements for fitness or effort

Depends what you're trying to achieve.

If you're ok with going backwards for a few years while the list rebuilds then sure.

I'm expecting Carr will give the players a year under his coaching before crossing a line through them (except for a few obvious exceptions).

That way he gets to see them under his system. From there he can cut deeply next year, and hopefully in a stronger draft.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Playing him these last few games has put us in a no win position.

He should absolutely be delisted because probably 45 out of his 50 games have been awful and he did absolutely nothing in the SANFL to deserve the last chance he was given, but he's also probably in the best three game patch of his career. So if we don't delist him, it's yet another year wasted on a low ceiling not up to it spud. If we do delist him, then what the hell were we hoping to achieve by playing him, because he's played better than could be expected only to get delisted anyway.

The problem is our expectations are so low we are lauding a 12 disposal game as a "give him another year moment". If only our expectations were so low of Pittard, Bonner and Burton.

Playing as a half forward vs a backman is a big difference though, easier to rack up those touches from Pittard/Bonner/Burtons positions.

His last few games were decent - if you didn't know his history and he was a new MSD pick, you'd offer him another year. It's only because we know he's a spud from before that we wouldn't.

It's obvious he shouldn't get another contact. FWIW it's hard to dislike the guy, it literally isn't his fault he was picked for 50 games. But if Carr is at all serious about taking us forward then he makes the obvious call.

I guess I’m a sad bloke then. Following a football team that has rewarded mediocre performers with selection for the past few years hasn’t made me happier. Great that we reward hard tryers though.

Don't think anyone is suggesting he gets a new contract - but he may have done enough to honor the contract he already has for next year.
