Another dud spawned from an era of shyteness

Hoggy was always "GUNNA " be anything and never was ...... greatest trade in the history of them .... getting Brodders , butch gale and Dundas for him

Ask the Roy Boys what they think of him

I was only young so I dont remember all that much but the tiges were shyte that year/s but he was in the top rankings for goal kickers that season.

How could you bag a player that won games off his own boot in a bottom 4 side?
Like I said I dont remember much and I dont know how many great years we got off him but it must off been a few.

I think Hogg wasnt that bad a player.

I think when that trade happened it was such a shock to most of us, to Jeff Hogg it was clearly heartbreaking and I would say we ruined his career, he was never the same confident leading forward after that but we needed to make the trade and we did.

Hogg was a fairly good FF playing in a weak side. Injury ended his career. Hogg's quads (IIRC) were gone by the time he got to Fitzroy. With a young Richo on our list we had a replacement for Hogg so in the end we got Brodders, M.Gale and Dundas for nix. Jamie Elliott was also thrown in.

Our best key position player for a couple of years. Would have kicked a lot more goals if he didn't have to be played at full-back so often because that's where all the play was.

We still definitely won on the trade with Fitzroy.

I saw that guy too Tigerboyz, and thought the same thing - looks like Hoggy. But i haven't seen him for ages so wouldn't have a clue what he looks like now.

Has anyone ever seen Hoggy at RFC games?

Jeff Hogg was a Captain at Tigerland or dont you remember.
Just goes to show who actually went to the footy as those who did go would know that Hoggy was a really good footballer, not like some the pretenders these days.
Richmond traded Hoggy due to a serious back injury- FACT !

As for his involvement at Tigerland now, you might might he will be involved in the mentor program that Dale Weightman has put together.

I still cant beleive that anyone would bag Hoggy.
I still have memories of his 10 goal haul !

I'm with you droppunt. It's a little too easy to start bagging past players during our dark years. He was playing FF in a team that was weak on midfielders and defenders. Gee - let me work that one out...which FF wouldn't stuggle. He was traded when his body had already packed it in.

Go Tiges

When i first started going to the footy in 1992 hoggy was my favourite player by far. I was crying when dad told me he was going to fitzroy. As soon learned that we did fairly well out of his trade

Agree.

A good footballer

AND a top bloke as well.

Its more of a pinch to realise that Hogg was one of our best players because it hits home how few good players we had.

Michael Pickering was considered one of our better players in the eighties. OUCH!!!

Hogg couldnt bend his back in his last days. He was a ray of sunshine but would have been a serviceable player in the team we wanted.

Lesson for all players. No matter how good you are, supporters will just want to wash away any crap era and you with it.

The early nineties were pathetic.
