Thought id just say that Jenkins effort to grab that ball and get it to Kerridge before the last goal even when he was on the floor was amazing! Tim Watson called it. The bulldog style!

He had a good game too, if he can kick straight I have no problem with him as the replacement tippet. He will be a great player for us! Essendon made a big call letting him go!

essendon had too many of the same already. when jenkins consistently kicks over 50 goals a year and gradually becomes ok at ruck, they will regret losing him but at the time their calculated decision on who to let go was correct even if a few years later it turns out he was there best kpp at that size!

Yep he's been a great get. Now, for him to really improve, they need to give him lots of practice at busting packs, taking big clunking marks and really imposing himself on contested situations. That's the main thing we still miss fromTippet. And then some serious back up ruck practice. But Jenkins has already got him covered with kicking, speed, agility. Jenkins can thump the ball and I'm usually confident when he's got it outside 50. Tippet struggles anywhere over 30m out, and even under that, is a terrible set shot. Jenkins was bloody good today, covers the ground well. And very quick for a bloke his size. Am I right in thinking I read somewhere he's the second quickest at the club?

I doubted Jenkins bigtime pre-season and thought the Bigfooty hype around him was crazy..

He is doing magnificent. He has the potential to be every bit as good as Kurt. He is a much better kick and a quality team man. He is also far superior on the ground. God bless Matt Rendell

I watched his one of his first trial games for Sturt, against West, and saw him take strong marks and kick goals from outside 50. But it was his chase, second efforts and sheer determination that struck me most. I watched him chase a West player a foot shorter than him for about 50m inside West's F50, he never gave up and while he didn't catch him, he got very close a couple of times and put enough pressure on him that he shanked the kick for a point from 30m out. He had a couple of good chases in that game.
One of the main things about Jenko is his enthusiasm and honesty. After Sturt's next trial game against Norwood under lights at the Parade he wrote an article in the paper saying how good it was in the SANFL playing a trial game infront of 3000 punters. Then once Trippett had left he puts his hand up for the #4 jumper, that takes guts and a willingness to embrace a challenge. Not only that he has nullified all future gossip about the #4 jumper in one foul swoop.
While I'm surprised as to just how well he's going, I'm not surprised that he's stood up to the challenge.
Well done JJ.

How was his kick from the defensive side of the square into our F50 with less than two minutes to go?! It must have travelled 70m on the fly and lead to Petrenko's snapped behind. Then followed it up with amazing grunt work to shovel the ball forward after Petrie's rebound kick. Awesome!

Correction: think it was a minute earlier - sentiment still stands.

For a big bloke, his ability to pick up a loose ball at his feet while running is outstanding. He's got a lot of tricks and just needs to stitch them all together, keep improving and continue his consistency.

Yep, was the long kick to advantage to the contest where Lynch and Porps exchanged handballs, then Lynch's shot drops short and Kerridge marks to kick his 6th and cut the margin to a goal.

In this vid of the last 3 minutes, there's three monumental efforts by Jenkins.

on a side note, Bruce Mcavaney let it out that he is, as a South Australian as straight as the crow flies

Check out at 1.18 to go when Petrie has the first of his two free kicks on the far side - the camera gives a wide shot and you see 5-6 Kangaroos players in the middle and on the near side and they're all virtually stationary!! If they'd been able to chip it around on the kick in from Petrenko's kick or Petrie's two frees it was game over.

On one of them you can see Scott D. Thompson telling Petrie to kick it long as well, but I guess it's not like he was given any other options. Roo's were't really moving and the Crows did well to man up on their opponents.

But no where near the contested mark. Jenkins has been great though and deserves accolades. Needs to continue working on the rucking and contested marking, oh and stop leaning back when he is kicking for goal from a set shot!

Love JJ, he was awesome last year in the Carlton game and had a big pre-season, damn good year for him and with some kicking practice he will be even better. Easily becoming one of my favourite Crows players (Dangerfield is #1 IMO, sorry JJ man crush with Danger)

Think it was the third. Ball over the back with Jenkins running onto it. Hits the turf and he accelerates and takes the ball, kicks the goal with the defender trying to bring him down to no avail. That is something we are going to see plenty more of. Keep working on his sets shots and we'll have a star of the comp to compliment Tex when he returns. Keep it going JJ!

That's the biggest thing he needs to improve upon, his leading and marking is brilliant - if he can start hitting packs and taking marks, or at least busting the packs and making the ball spill out, then he'll take his game to the upper echelons.

I don't think he's far off doing that. The handball he got out to Kedge on Sunday was a result of him hitting the black hard.

He was looking better in ruck. Getting his body into correct position. Even when he lost the taps in the centre it wasn't a hit out to advantage to North.

At the boundary throw in his position allowed Sloane to be 3rd man up to win the tap. And his almost mark (was it paid and then he played on?) in the pack... but then bulldogging it out leading to the goal was solid stuff.
