he is a good country boy thats been doing an electrical apprenticeship. only been up this year from Albany. big strong boy that is 194cms and 92 kgs. he will certainly need some training because he hasnt been in any big systems but will be brought along slowly. can play any key position

I'll be second. Never even heard of him before today. Bolt from the blue i hope. Think Aaron Black's still at North Eagle Ant unless your talking about a different one. No Aaron Elari from Perth?

Yep I will 2nd it- Shooter McGovern it is.:D:thumbsu:

I went to school with Andrew McGovern. Was always a solid player and was a great contributor at Claremont. He also spent time at Sydney and then the Dockers. Great to see his son following in his footsteps. :thumbsu:

I can tell you a bit about him. I believe both the Dockers and the Hawks were surprised that the Eagles swooped. Both clubs were keen on him with a later rookie pick.

Obviously, he's very much a speculative/project player (but that the hell this is the rookie draft and that's what it's for).

Hawks saw him as potentially a player who could develop into a key back or forward and pinch bit in the ruck. He's got a good set of hands on him, is very clever with how he plays, and seems to relish the contest.

Now the downside: he's never done a pre-season and he's carry a bit of weight, or weight that really should be muscle!

I believe he played colts for most of the year, and acquitted himself very well in the ruck.

I'd say after you grabbed Hamp, who I reckon could turn into a very good player (people say very good things both about his athletic ability as his disposition; very nice guy), you've loaded up on another (more) speculative tall.

Personally, if we'd grabbed those two players in the draft I would have been happy. No guarantees with drafting, especially the rookie draft and talls, but they are potentially good players.

I actually played footy against his dad (yes, I know I am too showing my age) who was very skillful on either side of his body and a very good possession accumulator. His dad was a good reader of the player so if he has passed that on that will be of huge benefit.

I wouldn't worry about what weight he is carrying now because after a solid pre-season or two and a specialised weights program it will be lost pretty quickly.

Andrew was a fairly solid build too.
