Sheedy does it again- defends his own decision to play Reynolds on Fevola last week, and then drops him for the West Coast game. What is wrong with a simple admission after last weeks game that the coach made a mistake. Dempsey shows a bit and gets dropped as well. Player management very questionable.

Which perhaps explains why Dempsey and Reynolds were in the side.... If it wasn't for McVeigh, Fletcher and Rioli being injured, Ryder sick etc then these guys probably would not have got a game... I'm sure Sheedy would have rathered played Fletch on Fev, just that he was injured, now that he's not. Its logical he would come into the side and Reynolds being dropped (as well as Dempsey) is not necessarily reflective on how well they played. more that the likes of Johns, McVeigh, slats and Fletch needed to fit into the side somewhere.... Could drop Solly or MJ I guess, but with so many snr players out already (eg Hird, Lloyd, campo, Rioli ) Sheeds is probably reluctant to drop any more strong bodies and experienced players - understandably...
I'm sure as more snr players come back from injury and young guys show form at Bendigo they will be rotated through the side... Its just about getting the right blend of youth and experience or youth and strength....

The selection of players at present is a joke.
How anyone can pick solomon still after another shocking game last week is beyond me. He needs to go back to Bendigo to get some form.
This also goes for Peverill. The game has past him and he is clearly not good enough.
Winderlich and Reynolds should not have been dropped ahead of him.
These guys need to be played now against good teams to see if they are good enough to get a spot on the list next year.
Typical rubbish with favourties getting games before others. What a joke.
Also Reynolds and Winderlich's pace would be more beneficial against a speedy West Coast.

Injuries Fletch, Rioli, McVeigh, Lloyd, Rama, Cole, Johns, Campo, Ryder (sick), cartledge, Henneman, Slattery (susp) - thats 12 players.... Don't Essendon have 38 on their senior list??? Lucy has just come back from injury, so could have had a niggle. Lee has played 3 or 4 games of VFL in 2 years... Neagle is very young... Not sure about Nash....
As for rookies O'Keefe is injured, as is McKinnon....
That is a pretty sizeable list...?
With 11 players with less then 50 AFL games (9 of those with less then 30), it would have been extraordinary to drop Solomon last week as well....
Reynolds is playing today, and apparently having little influence on the game...
You can't compare Solly to Winders... They play completely different roles... Solly has played on Gerry in the past - Could winders do that?
Eagles are number one in contested marks - Solly (despite all his baggers) is our second top player in contested marks - how any contested marks is Winders going to take..? Reynolds is a more likely replacement for solly or perhaps lee... However Reynolds has no where near the strength of Solly. Lee is a possibility for Solly, however the guy has hardly played any footy over the last couple of years... give him a chance at playing a few consecutive games before throwing him up against the second top side.
Pev out for Winders perhaps.... But Pev got about 20 odd possessions last week.... How many did Winders get???
Winderlich is playing a super game today apparently, will probably get a call up again soon. He's hardly set the world on fire the past 3 or 4 games though.... Look at the impact Dyson had - he stayed in....
He played in the forward line for Bendigo today. Started at Full Forward and later moved to half forward. Started quietly, but took a few great marks later on, particularly in the last quarter and disposal was good. Actually looked better as a forward than a backman IMO but then again this is VFL level not AFL level.....

Both showed some reserves form yesterday- Dempsey looked a bit too light to be considered for W/Coast- but will be a player. Get rid of Cartledge- no grunt.
