Rather ironic this coming from a Cats fan (You seemingly hate us all at the minute) but I thought I'd post it anyway. Heard a RUMOUR from an OK source that Richmond have put a substantial offer to Joel Smith. They want him to nominate for the PSD. They won't do a deal for him with Hawthorn and will rely on him walking after the trade period.

Also look out for Patrick Bowden. Even though he put Wallace on speaker phone to some of his mates when Wallace has trying to lure him across by saying how important he is and how the Doggies were going nowhere, he is a real chance to get to Tigerland. Darren Jolley is the other one who the Tige's are keen on in some sort of trade involving Zantuck.

I would have thought that Smith isn't the type we should be looking at... he is a very good player, but would probably be a better pick up for a club that is pushing for a premiership. His class may just make the difference?

There may be a bit of romance about Patrick Bowden coming across to join his brother but I again don't think he is what we should be looking at. We need rucks and key defenders and although Bowden does play tall, he doesn't have the bulk for CHB.

Jolley would be someone who we would be very interested in, either through a trade or the PSD. For that matter, Jamar as well from the Demons.

We don't hate you at all. We're just preparing to bend you over a barrell for brad ottens services. You just have to cough up something better than pick 16.

We'd be insane to recruit Joel Smith while we had Chaffey on the list. Both players are flattered by playing lose in defence as the link-man. Both are there because they lack pace and don't have the ability to become genuine on-ballers. Smith is obviously better than Chaffey but it is bascially doubling up in a position where we'd want a better option than either of them.

I agree, Smith is too much like Chaffey, and not really what we need.

Bowden would be useful as a third tall defender or forward, but not the fix at CHB we need. Seems as though Schulz might be played there this year, although I'd prefer him to be up forward with Richo and Brownie. If he's the best available in the PSD then by all means go get him, but if we risk waiting for the draft to get him, there may be someone better and he won't be at Richmond. Bowden could be a good replacement for Zantuck.

As for the ruck, it seems Simmonds is the top choice, with Jolly and Jamar other options. If we could get a swap of Zantuck for Jolly as a lot of people are suggesting, I think it would be a good result for us.

Please GOD NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! If this softco##k if comes to Richmond it'll be time to run a hot bath, drink a bottle of Scotch, get out the Staysharp knives and................................................
Surely God,in his infinite wisdom would not be so cruel and callous as to inflict another jellyback on us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am also not a fan of Joel Smith but classifing him as slow is a strange call considering he generally breaks the lines from defence

i hope terry and greg arent even entertaining the idea.....

it will against the whole youth policy....

personally im not a huge wrap for this guy....

looks half decent in a very average side....

bit like some of our imposters....

like it or not, TW is a big fan of smith, i remember him talking abt him in a very positive way on aw a while back... im indifferent on it, no biggie if we dont get him, but would be very good for us for 3-4 seasons

oh and you couldnt even compare chaffs with smith, chaffs had an attrocious year and id like to see the back of him asap and smith does break the lines with his runs..

Lets hope wallet and Miller agree with you blokes. If Smith does do that it would be one of the most discraceful acts ill ever see. We stuck by him and if he buggers off like that with nothin in return, it would be a discrace. So the right thing Smithy, stay with the Hawks ;)

ive seen alot of joel smith and he always seems to kick the ball 2 the oppistion or to there advantage
so i wouldnt want him at the club

Thats because more often than not this year it has been the best option when you look @ what was on offer on our HF line .You would have more hope of a hawthorn person coming up with the ball by kicking it into the crowd than in the general direction of Barker & Holland.
