Joel "The General" Bowden

Was - yet again - super impressed with his game yesterday. In a team that had 11 players yet to play 50 games (vs Hawks 4 I think), you need some old wise heads around. From level 2 in the members, I could hear Bowden screaming at players, directing them, encourgaing them and just being that General on the field that we need.

He was important playng forward of the centre in the first half and provided some ice cool in the back half when it counted.

Hope he gets to 300 games.

A number of people who regularly post on this board and consider themselves students of the game dont rate Bowden at all and feel the team would be much better off without him. They obviously have NFI

Bowden is a classy player who has at least 2 years left. He made 2 or 3 silly mistakes yesterday but he made up for them usually

In another thread you said that when JB played a good game you would be more than happy to give credit where it is due.
Then in another thread you stated that he needed to do it consistently for you to ghive him credit.
If you cannot give credit for his performance against the Hawks I thinks you would not give him credit if he had a 60 possession game with 30 contested defensive marks and 20 goals at the other end.
Lets face it you hate him.
So why dont you give us all some peace and not voice it every day on here.

Joel is like the backline conductor. Without him there with a level head we would have lost more games this year. And to him making a few mistakes, so he's only human to.
I totally agree with the name he has been given.

the general for sure. master of the back line and such a good role model for the future. he's a leader for thurstfield, moore and mcguane our future backline and with raines set to come back next year bowden has already done his job..... not that i want him to retire just yet! we've already seen what a hand half foward he can be! he has helped so many players along the way.... pity he couldn't do the same for patrick!

I have to say I was probably one of them.

He still shits me up the wall at times, but I still wouldn't give him up, keep him for another year or 2.
