Thought I'd dedicate a thread to the great man, had his first hit in Australia and what a catalogue of songs and great performances he has given over the years.

One of my favourites

One of my all time faves is Mr M... Missed his tour here in 1992 (maybe it was 93?) and was so glad he toured here a couple of years back and was even happier when I snared 3rd row seats at Rod Laver Arena.

Great gig, the man did not disappoint. Was sad however that he didn't squeeze Cherry Bomb into his set list though.

Really hope he can reach our shores again in the not too distant future.

Small Town, I Need A Lover, Jack and Diane, Hurt So Good, Lonely Ol' Night, Pink Houses

All great tracks.

Love Johnny Cougar!
Those tracks above are brilliant, add to that:
  • Jackie Brown
  • Martha Say
  • Paper in Fire
  • Check it Out
  • Just another day
  • Key west intermezzo - high up there on my JC favourites
  • Cherry bomb

Love his work. I like both of them and I know Bruce Springsteen is bigger, but I find I like more of Johnny C's songs than his, having never bought an album by either of them (except for their respective Greatest Hits). Bruce probably had bigger hits, but I reckon Mellencamp had more of them. Very underrated.
Especially love I Need A Lover (what an intro in the full version! :thumbsu:), Check It Out, Lonely Ol' Night, Rain On The Scarecrow, Paper In Fire, R.O.C.K In The USA and Your Life Is Now. His other big hits are great, but I'm prolly sick of them now, having heard them so many times.

Anyone know the reason for John Mellencamp cancelling his Aussie tour in June ?

My guess would be poor ticket sales,as he's still touring in the USA at the moment.

Originally scheduled for huge venues (HBF, Oakbank etc) then scaled back to smaller due to low sales (which would cost the promoter a fortune) then when no one bought tickets to the smaller venues they cut their losses and scrapped the lot. Terrible management.
