Are Johnson & Biglands going to be available this week? Schell with 7.0 for Centrals? Bring him back, I say, that is damn fine compared with everyone else'e kicking. Bienke, how is he going? Gallagher did well for Norwood I hear.

McGregor probably to get dropped, but after that? Marsh or Clarke? Who else?

Problems, problems with trying to fit everybody in the side who might deserve a spot. That is problems I like to see!

I guess we'll just have to see whether Rhett and Sugar are fit...from the reports in the paper today it seems like they'll be okay and slot straight back in.

Schelly would have to be some sort of chance, against his old side, he'd be desperate to do well and 7 straight goals, you can't ask for more than that. Fitzy's struggling a bit and could be sent back to find some form....who knows?

Gags is playing quite well from all reports but will struggle to get back in considering the form of our midfield. Beinke's still out with the cheekbone I think. Ladhams is another performing well in the SANFL while even Shir was best for the Tigers against Port :p

Mcgregor should get a full run in the SANFL next weekend while Marsh could make way for Biglands.

In Biglands Johnson

out Marsh and McGregor

As we don't need to worry about any of Fremantles forwards in a night game.

Stenglein to pick up Bell. Johncock on Farmer are my early thoughts.

Jars458 - Can't disagree with your ins & outs, although I would add Schell for Fitzy (as he needs to go back to South to get some form). However, IMO the Crows hierachy will hang on to McGregor & probably drop the unlucky Nelson instead. I like your match-ups as well. Also, Smart on Croad (they need to keep giving him a challenge). Perhaps Bassett on Pav if he goes forward (remember he towelled up Kenny last time). Who will pick up Longmuir of the J variety?

I was thinking about Fitzy vs Schell this morning

It seems to me our team plan is to kick to the top of the square at all costs in teh hope that Fitzy at least makes a contest and brings teh ball to ground. Then our forward liine pressure keeps the ball in and results in goals

I don't think Schell has the physical presence to do that

Fitzy has played no footy virtually and I think they will keep the faith with him.

McG was only brought in because of Richmond's hieght and gave us no versatility really. Will be very lucky to stay in.

Ben Hart can pick up Lonmuir or Bassett will get the job. Perrie perhaps back to CHB.

Pavlich will pick up Stevens which will be a good duel

Smart on Croad will be a good move or Massie if that doens't work.

I think that Schell could be a bit of a Picioane for Adelaide....seems the coach doesn't realise that he's actually reasonably good. I'd play him, even on a flank.

I don't see what is wrong with having both Fitzy & Schell in. McGregor out, Schell in.

Marsh I thought did OK last week, as did Clarke. I'm not quite sure which one to drop in favour of Biglands. Marsh might be a better matchup defensively for J Lo.

Johnson doesn't look like he will be available. Nelson & Massie to keep their places. Gallagher to be considered, but probably not chosen as yet.

Ben Hart can pick up Lonmuir or Bassett will get the job. Perrie perhaps back to CHB.

Pavlich will pick up Stevens which will be a good duel

Other matchups? here are some maybes:

Marsh on J Lo.

Stenglein on Farmer.

Smart on Croad.

Hart on Medhurst.

All we need then is someone to go with Bell. Bode perhaps? Not McLeod as we want him to create, not chase.

Sorry

But you have no idea

did you see Ottens' stats? He was their best player

Marsh is uncordinated and has no physical presence

Clarkes tap work was exceptional

Marsh is the most overrrated going around and one of the worst performed players in the AFL if you look at his stats

I have no time for Marsh at all.

Clarke is a proven quality tap ruckman

McGregor has been poor in the SANFL but I would take him over Marsh any day as he can take a chest mark which Marsh can't.

Ottens was Richmonds best player, but not a matchwinner. Marsh was the best option to at least go with him. Marsh was hard done by one more than one occasion.

Biglands has done this same job (playing in defence against a ruckman type forward) but we need Biglands in ruck.

Freo have J Lo, who is a decent player. Crows need someone to go against him. If Crows use Biglands, that would leave Clarke alone in ruck all day.

There is a spot for Marsh this week IMO against J Lo. He is better at that defensive role than Calrke, and to use Biglands would deplete our ruck.

Still not convinced Schell should come back in.

Sure he kicked 7 but 3 out of the 5 I saw were from not chasing his man upfield and being on the end of a turnover with no-one within 20 yards.

(The other 2 were one from a good lead and one from a pack mark, so I compliment him when he deserves it)

I'd leave him with central another week.

Apparantly both Biglands & Johnson trained tonight in a voluntary session (ie. not a normal training night).

Ins: Biglands, Johnson (if fit), Schell (to stick it up the Freo supporters & Centrals have the bye)
Outs: Marsh, McGregor, Fitzerald (to get some form with South)

If Biglands doesn't come up then Marsh gets a reprieve. Should bring in someone like Gallagher if Sugar's hamstring is still suspect (particularly after a good game for Norwood).

Matchups:
Stenglein on Bell - as he is their biggest gun.
Johncock on Farmer - Stiffy looked in control across HB last week & should be give 1st crack, with Edwards a good back-up option.
Smart on Croad - as he must continue to get one the opposition's best forwards (ie. "challenge factor").
Hart on Longmuir - as he tends to match up well on similar types of players & will run off him at every opportunity.
Edwards on Medhurst - need a good spoiling player.
Leave Bassett to pick up either a tall or a small & Massie as a good back-up to come off the bench.

Must persist with Stevens (who will probably get Pav) & Perrie (Brown?) up forward - they also combine well. Also, start Schell if the conditions are OK.

Clarke should spend 2/3rds the game in ruck (unless he plays crap) even if Biglands returns. IMO, Biglands was injured because he was over-used in games & Clarke was under-utilised (& lost touch).

Stenglein on Bell is OK, but not the whole time. Bell will run him off his feet. To start with though, this is fine.

Johncock on Farmer I can live with, as long as we have a "plan B" if this starts to go wrong.

Smart on Croad - agree.

Hart is too small for Longmuir, as is Bassett probably. I favour Biglands or Marsh. Bassett or Perrie if we must, IMO.

Edwards is too small for Medhurst, who plays taller than his size, can take a good mark & is a very clever elusive player. Hart I feel is the best matchup here, as Hart is just as clever himself, and rarely beaten one on one, no matter who.

Can someone please remind me who played on Farmer last year? Was it Smart? I remember someone giving him a bath, and Farmer lashing out. (Or it may have been the other way around - very fuzzy memories!!!) What did the angry young footballer actually do in the Adelaide-Melbourne game last year?

Thanks

I remember it reasonably well, still have it on tape actually. Smart played on Farmer and FARMER gave Smarty the runaround for most of the day, especially in the second quarter, I think he kicked 2 or 3 goals and got Melbourne back into the match after a slow start. Can't remember what happened after that, except Jars was sensational and we won the match :D

Smarty was also reported for a trip on Farmer which was correctly thrown out.
