He's proven he's a no.1 ruck and is still developing. But instead Mark Blake is a better option.

It's mainly over contract length apparently. Giles wants four years. GWS wants two years with an option for a third. The dollars on offer and requested aren't hugely different.
You've gotta wonder whether Damian Barrett had his wires crossed when he said the Giants offer was half of the $300k he could get elsewhere. Is the 'half' actually referring the years currently on offer?

I have heard that Giles wants to get home to Adelaide, but does not want to go to Port. But at the end of the day if Adelaide dont offer him a job soon (waiting for Tippetts decision on his club of choice) he will take the best of his other offers. Apparently the Crows are dead keen.

I can't see why GWS don't just pay him the 300k. He is well worth that.

Totally agree. Forget signing new players if they can't keep blokes like Giles imo, he is very important to them.

Doubt he'll be at Adelaide next year, he won't want to come into a side where he won't be the number 1 ruck most weeks. Jenkins is better up forward and with another preseason to work on his rucking he will be a serviceable back-up ruckman.

I would take Giles over Jenkins every day of the week.

Don't see it that way, someone may say different but I see Giles as being very similar to Jacobs. He be an excellent back up but I don't think you would want both in the same side. It would be similar to the problems North Melbourne had with their 2 ruckman

I say different. Jacobs only kicked 7 goals this year so I'd suggest he struggles going forward and kicking goals. I'm guessing you had a big cry about the AA team because you'd over inflated your view of Jacobs.

Collingwood and Hawthorn should do whatever they can to get him.

I reckon those would be good fits for him, along with Port, Geelong and staying at GWS.

I don't think they anticipated how well he would adapt to AFL. I'm sure Scully and the like are being paid very well right now (front loading), and they may not be able to afford him. When the front loading ends, the back loading begins on WHE, Greene etc.

While thats mostly true, there appears to be room for one more free agent - and I'd prefer to re-sign Giles and make do with a Hooker/Markovic type journeyman defender than lose Giles and be trying to find another ruckman ... or have a ruck team of Phillips and Folau.
