I know it may sound rash but from England's point of view I don't see how Trott can play the next test. Every time he bats Johnson will just come on and bounce him out again. With Trott's "pull shots" he will always get out. Unless he improves it (and England don't really have anyone that quick and lethal for him to practice with) his tour could well be over.

Am I being to harsh?

A typical weak South African, tries to act and talk big but crumbles when the pressure's on

Have you completely forgotten the last Ashes here where he and Cook batted for a week to save a draw in Brisbane then obliterate us in Adelaide?

2 days ago it was Clarke whose career was about to be destroyed by the short ball. Now it's Trott. Let's just relax.

Mitch's record in Adelaide is poo. They won't drop him but I'd be tempted to.

Trotty looks to have scrambled eggs for brains but he hasn't got his record for nothing. He'll be working like a dog to sort this out.

He has heaps of credits in the bank. World class batsman who has been a rock at #3 - something we've sorely missed.

Hope he keeps up his current form but he'll probably come good at some stage.

Everybody knew the trap that was set for Trott yesterday, including Trott himself. Yet he still fell for it hook line and sinker.

Johnson has Trott's number at the moment. No doubt about that. Wait til he gets hold of Trott in Perth.

England has 6 batsmen career averaging over 40 including Trott.
Australia has 1.

If Trott has problems, what do we have? He is averaging 47 over 50 tests.

The lesson is that we need to show this form over years, not days, to take the high ground. By all means step on him when his form is down, but don't pretend that he is s**t.

His form is down now.

Trott is a very good Test player. But at the moment he is Johnson's bunny, and he has a lot of work to do in the nets in order to try and rectify that.

I'd say his biggest problem is in his head. Everyone can get out to good short bowling early on in their innings. He was too busy trying to run away from the ball to bother playing them properly.

People who are saying Johnson is his only problem along with the GABBA bounce must have forgotten our series in England about 3 months ago. He struggled against genuine pace even on their slow, low wickets. Having said that, he is definitely class, and I still have horrible memories of his 2010/11 tour, so I'm definitely not writing him off.

One of the finest batsmen in the world, playing for one of the best teams in the world. When he hits form, he will get them over the line on his own. Test cricket is about perseverance, and good on England for sticking by their man.

Been out of form for a while now. Yes he was on fire here 3 years a go and at the oval in 2009 but that in sporting terms is a lifetime a go. I think the previous series win has kept the heat off himself and Prior. A big loss here and the blowtorch now I imagine is at full blast on these 2 in Adelaide.
