Anyone else gnashing their teeth at Big Jonathon Brown's ability to look great, seemingly get the important goals in a Lion victory, yet score himself some pathetic 60-ish tally? Maybe because the Lions have a few more forward options now, but he is seriously a concern with his mediocre scoring of recent times. Not sure if it's because he conceded a few frees, or maybe is awarded clangers for some of his activities (rarely see a Lions game so hard to say) but certainly i was hoping for a bit more than that.

Also, i am in the Chad Cornes club, and last night on the radio it was suggested he is playing injured/without motivation. That may be reflected in his pathetic 45 last night. Perhaps he didn't want to turn up to play against the Pies at the 'G', but he is also a worry. The Demons reluctance to play one of the better emergencies in Cheney is also annoying.

What are people's thought on this?

I've been watching him recently considering my need to strengthen my weakish forward line and reckon a lot of his sliding scores are due to Daniel Merrett's injury.

Bradshaw has had to go back and fill that hole, so Brown seems to be getting in the middle of a lot of two-on-one contests due to there being one less tall target inside fifty. Gibson is also one of the best spoils in the league. If he didn't play for North Melbourne he'd be talked up a whole lot more.

From memory Brown's record against Carlton is ok, so he could buck the trend next weekend.

I'm definitely looking to bring him in when Merrett's back. Should be well into the $300,000s by then.

Chad picked up a calf injury during the game so missed the second half......so 45 isn't that bad when you look at it that way. Chad is averaging around 100 this year and is gold in SC. Wait for him to get over his injury.

I heard on SEN one of the melbourne's assistant coaches say that Cheney was dropped a while back as he didn't have accountability as a defender. So in other words a downhill skier. He was sent back to the reserves to work on his defensive skills. With Grimes doing a marvelous job and injured defenders returning I don't like Cheney's chances this year.

I traded Skipworth out for Browny... he's played a single fantastic game in the time I've had him. Also been stung by Chad going down as I just traded for him last week...

just double checking with people, it is 100% crazy that im considering upgrading brown to riewoldt isnt it?

if i had 15+ trades id be doing that and i'd be doing buddy to stevie johnson apart from riewoldt none of the key forwards have really dominated and proven to be worth it

In an era of monster possessions, key forwards are becoming like key defenders in fantasy land. It's a shame as they are so vital to a real side but other than Riewoldt who gets alot of ball up the ground they're just not worth it.

My thoughts on this are already posted above, but I think that trade would be pretty bad.

Once Brisbane have their ideal tall structure back in place, Brown's scores should go back to where we expect them to go. Henderson doesn't seem to be replacing Merrett well enough, so another couple of weeks of Bradshaw in the backline should be coming up.

yeh, i thoguth it was a ridiculus idea, thanks for the clarification

I think I'll trade Ben Warren to JB pretty soon. Should be great value if he gets below 400k.

x2 but instead M.Brown to J.Brown for me.

Cash is really tight this year (****ing economic crisis) to JB at $400k is a bargain worth grabbing.

I just hope he doesnt have a monster this week... but does enough to show that faith will be warranted. :thumbsu:
