ey guys.....just woundering what you guys think about jono brown? After round one alot of people are getting excited when they realised he will drop massivly in price. Even if he scores 100 this week he will still drop back to 380-390000 bringing him right back to the pack. Question is, is he really worth it?

In past seasons Jono has had Lynchy and Bradshaw along side him. This season, obviously lynchy isnt there and bradshaw is out for the season with a knee. This means Browny will have 2 key defenders hangin off each arm and probably someone playing 30 meters infrount of him as well.. Obviously the guys a freak show and will still have the occasional week of 130 or 140 points. Howevere there could be a chance he will be getting alot more of the 60's and 70's as well.

So do you wait for the price drop and pick up brown or do you recruit someone like crad johnson who also moves up to the mid field and will garantee you 90-100+ almost ever week?

Thoughts?

Typically the problem with Jonathan Brown is he hasnt kicked more than 40 goals in a season because useually he gets injured or suspended. Personally Johnson, Lucas and Pavlich would be better picks.

Brown is a superstar he kicked 5 goals and had a very quiet game, for his standards.

imo u should have 3 out of Brown, Lucas, Pav, Johnson.

yeh probably right. No doubt brown is a superstar. I just think the other 3(Johnson, Lucas and Pav) will be better because they dont have the pressure of being the only full forward.

he probably is their main target but he has an uncanny abilty to take a pack mark due to his strength, and if he is their only target he will have increased chances of doing that.
very good on the lead and can kick em from almost anywhere.
plus brisbane have players like black, power, sherman and now ristichelli who can hit targets inside 50.

just IMO, he is worth it

Lucas, Pav and Johnson will all be priced higher at the end of round 3, so ill most likely get J. Brown if i look to upgrade a forward.

Wait for JB to come down to a price where he is worth.

I love he is a freak, can take speckies over the grandstand and kick goals from the back pocket but magpies_03 is right. He will have 17 defenders hanging off him.

It's a gamble with JB. Personally, I'm hoping he'll drop to mid $300's then I'll buy. Let's be honest, he's not worth $400K to you DT right?

I know what you are saying about the other 3...

...but I'm pretty sure they are all flying above their "average" atm too (asp. Lucas and Pav)...

I mean, they ARE NOT going to av. 4 goals a game all season (Lucas 6 obviously!)

Johnson is a DT gun, but I'd be going a Chapmanb or a G. Ablett before Lucas or Pav...

...but that's slightly off the track!

Not sure I'd want Brown in my DT, but I think he's a good thing in SC come Rd. 4 ;)

How can you say Pavlich cant kick 4 goals a game? maybe he wont kick 4 EVERY game but i think he can finish with 80-90 goals and average around 4 at the end of the season if he has his best year.
hes got a brilliant set shot kick and can mark strongly.
and his goal on the weekend where he kept it in by soccering it over his head just shows his brilliance.
im NOT saying he will kick 80-90 goals but he is definitely good enough and has the players to give him the right delivery

lol again that's slightly off track

but i reckon Brown is worth 400.. hes worth his weight in gold IMO

He really is really is an unknown quality, personally I would hold out till round 5 or 6 because he still looks like he is underdone. Yes , he did kick 5 but he was facing the 3rd tall defender with Brisbanes midfield totally dominant. He will likely have a few more bad weeks before he gets in full flight.

I have just taken the immediate option: Scott Lucas . Guaranteed to increase in price after rd3, in both games he managed to kick bags even though he didnt get midfield dominance in both games (Essendon had less I50 than both sides), playing Carlton next week (failed to contain N.Ablett and Mooney) and Stkilda the next week (Key defenders injured)

If Brown hits the form that he showed last season again no other player will come close to him this year.

He scored that 100 against Collingwood in his last match is just over a half before going down injured.

exactly, he is pretty much unstoppable at his best.
i think he is a very good chance for the Coleman this year
and even a Brownlow in years to come
