I've watched him play half a dozen games for Peel this year and he has been the most consistent backman in that side and perhaps the WAFL.

Very composed, has good closing speed and is neat by foot.

In a 102 point flogging, Jones was the only player who could walk off the ground comfortable that he had performed his role.

Made Schofield and Arrowsmith look average. Good late pick up :thumbsu:

I think a lot of people on here were surprised when we overlooked Walters for him, but he's showing himself to have a lot of potential. Agree with you on the games I've seen him, he's been very impressive.

So are you congratulating us on a good last pick or telling us he is a possiblity to be selected for a game before the years out?

I think a lot of people on here didn't understand that we lacked young small / medium defenders for the future.

this kids sounding good from what i hear.
tell you what though spots in that backline in coming years are gonna be fierce, especially wiht waters comeing back, butler finding himself on the flank and davis yet to crack into the side.

This kid is very very good and IMO will be head and shoulders above the 3 you mention by this time next year. Reports that I am aware of, say there is no guarantee Waters will even play again, Davis and McGinnity are fighting for the BP not HBF position and as to Butler - he is a prime example of how having quality players around can mask one's "averageness". ;)

what type of defender is??

hope he is like milburn.....sounds similar though have never seen him play, but guys like milburn who can shut down and chop off attacks are must have, like hodge in last years gf. can anyone tell me his style???

thanks

I've been impressed by Butler as a defender.

Jones is probably looking at a spot as the third tall defender, so his competition will be guys like Spangher, Schofield and maybe Bones, moreso than the smaller players like Butler, Davis and Waters.

oh i was under the impression he was a mid-sized bloke wiht pace, not really the sort of bloke you'd want sitting on a resting ruckmen/third tall.
but as i said, still yet to see any vision of him playing.

189cm so hes borderline for a third tall option. Very stong defensivly, good enough to touch up the 197cm Jack Watts in the TAC.

Thanks Mundy for the OP, and to all others who have added some info to Jordan Jones development.

Living in Brisbane is very hard to follow the development of the younger players, so all serious information is duly appreciated.
