Very impressed with this kid. Either he has come a long way very quickly or we have been slow to get him onto our list. Shows great composure and good skills, not something you see everyday in such an inexperienced player. Makes me feel good about the future.

It has surprised me too that it has taken so long for him to be given a go at senior level. All last season in reserves he impressed me with his skills and he always gave 100%. Played both forward and back last year - seems pretty versatile. It's fantastic to see how cool he remains under pressure and thank goodness we have someone at the moment who can find their target! For me, he and Brownie were the only bright lights in Saturday's game.
(PS the other young player who looks to me like a serious prospect for senior selection is Leigh Ryswyck. Great effort in reserves on Saturday..took some heavy hits and continued to work hard even when the game was gone.)

The Lions have some pretty good players on their rookie list i believe, at the end of the year they should look into it to see if they can elevate anyone.

yeah he took the kick ins all night and didn't miss a target i dont reckon.. really good young kid. noticed him at the game myself.

His kicking style is really good to watch, I have so much confidence with him kicking in then Johnson now.

A very fluent style. And don't forget, Johnno would give up the 'one-goal-per-game' kickout that would either be an OOB on the full or straight to the opposition? He would do it on average at least once per game so he wasn't perfect.

I would argue, however, the Johnno is the best running out of defence player I have ever seen!

It's a fair responsibility for a kid to carry, but on the other hand, he must know that if he can hold that job, it's hard to dislodge him from the side, even if he has a couple of flat games in a row (as kids do).

As a 22yo that's been floating around on the rookie list for a fair while, that must make him feel pretty good.
