My mother told me that he was in the news as to him maybe being in doubt. Can anyone confirm and extend this info???

This time of the year she isn't a reliable source, considering she is a Bloods fan through and through.

Collingwood has enjoyed the break after the club's blistering start to the season where it sits in third spot at 8-3, but the Magpies are not as near to full strength as they'd like to be, according to assistant coach Guy McKenna.

With Dane Swan and Brodie Holland still carrying injury concerns, the Pies' also have some worries with big ruckman Josh Fraser who trained very lightly on Wednesday and wasn't needed for their main session.

"He's had a big year. Our ruck stocks aren't brimming with numbers that's for sure. We've just got to manage him," McKenna said at training on Wednesday.

"He played against Dean Cox in Subi all by himself and he's had to do that against other ruckman in the competition. Really it's just a chance for us to give him a bit of a spell.

"He's a quality player for us, so the longer he spends out on the ground the more advantage we've got."

With the Pies' coming off the mid-season break, there is a worry that Fraser hasn't been able fully recover. McKenna isn't too worried, however.

"Our thinking is we've given him a week off because of the bye and there's a chance we can load him up with another two or three days of having a rest. We think that's pretty invaluable.

"If we had to rest him again through the course of the rest of the season, it's sort of a hiccup effect. So the longer the break we can give him the better he'll be for the rest of the season," McKenna said.

Despite the fact they didn't train, Swan and Holland will be given every chance to prove themselves, McKenna said.

"We're going to wait until later in the week. Obviously today was our main session so we didn't want to put them through too big a pace.

"We'll wait to the end of the week to make that assessment. We'll give them every chance we possibly can.

"He (Holland) is a day by day. With the injury he's got, some days he's feeling good some days he's feeling poor.

"We’ve given him a chance because he missed against Melbourne and another week off with the bye and again today. There's no point in him coming out to flare it up," he said.

In better news for the Magpies, Blake Caracella, was seen around the club and, with the recent arrival of his son Noah, looks to be over the worst of his neck injury.

"He's doing the best he can and he's keen to get his neck right and continue playing footy and we're obviously thrilled by that," McKenna said.

There you go. He'll play against the Swans cos they want to win against a top 6 side. but against the weaker teams, they might rest him in the lead up to the finals

Sounds like the Magpie coaching staff have admitted that the West Coast game was a big mistake. Either that or its a subtle sledge by McKenna of MM.

That doesn't mean it at all. What it means is that he has had some big games and for lack of a better word he is 'knackered.' He probably has a niggling groin or thigh injury which they are trying to beat by not getting him to train.

Simple as that i reckon.
