Getting the players nomination puts you in the box seat.. but it doesn't fully insulate you from competition.
Josh (and most players i suspect) would want their previous club fairly compensated for losing them.

If it looked like gws were gonna get royally screwed AND he was happy with the offers from multiple clubs- he could conceivably change his nomination

Was talking earlier today to my cousin who worked at North for a long time- including in recruiting in the 90's- and we got onto Kelly, and I mentioned how we're also into him, and to that he responded that he spoke to someone at North recently, who he trusts "implicitly", (presumably in their recruiting team, who he worked with when he was there) who told him that he's not going to North and that he's expected to stay at GWS, but if he leaves, it will be to Carlton.

Jake Niall was on On The Couch tonight and said that "all the clubs in the hunt for Kelly believe that he's staying at GWS" and named Carlton and North specifically as two of the clubs who are of this view.

Said that Josh hasn't told GWS of his intention to stay tho, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if he's waiting to see if GWS win the flag this year or not, and will leave if they do.

Yeah mate, huge news I know. Can't name names but my source, who gets good info from the North inner sanctum, reckons the Kangas are rapt with this "diamond in the rough" signing and feel that Mayney will be the lynchpin of their forward line along with Brown. He's ready to take the reigns from Jarrad Waite and fits their list profile. They feel Mayne is ready to explode and epitomises the Shin Boner spirit.
