Time for his own thread. One of the best inside mids in the game and is developing his outside game a fair bit this year. The knock on him is his lack of speed (I don't think he's that slow anyway) but he's game sense is so quick, that it counters that imo. Similar to Jobe Watson.

Wouldn't shock me if he is in the top 10 players at the end of the season purely on 2012 performances. Might be getting too excited but man love is high.

Would be leading the B&F count relatively easily right now and if continues on this way it's going to be hard for anyone to catch him. And as I think BarneyBent mentioned in a thread on the main board, his outside game is coming along well. He's winning uncontested ball, kicking goals relatively often and getting all over the ground to take saving marks or pump the ball inside 50.

He's on a steady upward curve right now and it's headed to the top of the pile of midfielders in the AFL.

Always wanted him to stay as I knew some faith and consistent games would bring out the best in him. Sadly with Mitchell, Sewell and Lewis ahead of him before the move, it was a smart career choice. What a perfect switch from Kirk to Kennedy you guys made.

Only worry for Kennedy for the Brownlow is that based on last year he might not be a good vote getter. Some players just don't poll well.

If Aussies contract status is correct than we can put 1/3 or a half of ROK's wage into the vets list next year. Wait to see if Jude remains on the list and the vets will suck about 50% of ROKS wage if he does not. Mumford already on some serious coin and while he will get a raise not that significant.

No doubt Kennedy's wage bill goes up but I imagine relieving ROKS wage onto the Vets list will help in this regard.

The most important thing to gaining Josh's signature is keeping this club culture strong.

I'm confident we'll keep all those who we need to at the end of the year. Guys like Shaw, ROK, Kennedy, McVeigh, McGlynn and Bird are all of contract this year but we have a good record of keeping those players that we want to keep over the last decade. The end of 2013 sees more of our top notch young guys come off contract like Mumford, Jack, Parker, Hannebery, Jetta amongst others.

And as CAS says, ROK will move onto the veteran's list with Jude almost certain to retire so that gives us a bit of wiggle room in the salary cap to offer greater sums to younger stars who demand greater coin.

I don't think we're in any danger of Kennedy leaving. Seems to have a lot of respect for the club that gave him a chance and is enjoying making a name for himself without the family attention in Melbourne.

I was listening to him today on the radio at work and he was saying how he watched Sandilands hand and roved to him all day and it was easier because he knew where it was going. Kind of a good move to rest Mumford.
