Woodville-West Torrens recruit Josh Growden will pursue a career in American Football after deciding not to play in the SANFL this season.
Growden failed to play an AFL match after joining Greater Western Sydney as a pre-listed 17-year-old at the end of 2010.
Despite initially signing a two-year contract to play with the Eagles in 2014 and 2015, Growden told team-mates on Monday night that he wished to become a punter in the NFL or US College system.
After the 20-year-old attended a talent identification session in Melbourne before Christmas, he has since decided to spend the next year across the border working with Prokick Australia.

A bit of an update

Having kicked a footy nearly every day for 20 years, Josh Growden has only picked up a Sherrin once in the last six months.
The former GWS Giant has been training as an NFL punter since December last year with the hope of playing for an American College sometime in the near future.
