10+ years service, a grand final and 2 colemans (might be more by the time he retires)It comes down to preferences. Would you rather the best inside mid or arguably the best key forward.
Ie
2 x coleman medalist vs 2 time brownlow.
But culture man... what about the culture?

or 7 years service, barely a final and a brownlow. oh and throw in Masten.
We win.
Carlton's chances of reaching a grand final in the near future are slim to non existant.Wouldnt it be so sweet if we play Carlton in a grand final and beat them in the near future?
A counterpoint:
The current eagles seem to be able to manufacture kp players out of thin air. Yet struggle with mids.
How much better would shuey and scooter have come on with judd taking the heavy lifting.
How much better would priddis have looked shovelling out to judd.
Mids learn off the older heads - they do an apprenticeship - we lost our midfield in one hit - the only one left was kerr and he had to learn to deal with a tag before he could become all he was.
Hopefully sam mitchell can teach them a few tricks.

Well he said 'Kp' so you can throw in McGovern, Barrass, Emac and Schoey.. so yeah i think we are doing okay for Key position players. No doubt that Judd would have helped with the young mids particularly Shuey. However, the thing is that with Judd in the team we could have finished around the top 8 during the period 2008-2010. Thus it is highly unlikely that we could have drafted Naitanui and Shuey (who was a priority pick) in 2008 if Judd had stayed. Think losing Cousins that same year hurt us lot more than Judd's departure.
Your point about KP players is not quite valid. Other than Kennedy, who turns 30 this year, and Darling our KPF stocks are pretty poor - you don't have to look any further than last nights East Perth game.

Key position is key position man. But for arguments sake i think if we allowed him to Gov could be a 50+ goal CHF. Barrass also kicked two snags in a quarter for EP last night.. so our Key posts do seem to have a bit of Alistair Lynch flexibilityYes he did say "KP". Think he was referring to Kennedy who is a forward. I agree we are doing better than OK with regard to KP defenders but forwards not so much. When Darling did not play at the start of 2015 due to injury, we played McInnes in his place, would you call that doing OK with regard to forwards?

Sheppard*Yes you are absolutely correct. We can afford to play our only two young key defenders of promise in the forward line - Shepherd can play tall.
