Judd not at his best until August: Akermanis
Thomas Arup | March 31, 2008
CARLTON superstar Chris Judd will not be in "full stride, full kicking" until August, according to Bulldog Jason Akermanis.
Speaking on Channel Seven's AFL Game Day yesterday, Akermanis said he had had the same surgery in 2002 that Judd underwent in the pre-season and that the recovery had been long and difficult.
"Full stride, full kicking takes nine months. So the Judd fans … you're not going to see him kick 60-metre goals until at least August," Akermanis said.
"It's disappointing I know, but that's just unfortunately what you have to do and what you have to get over, with an injury like this."
Judd struggled last season because of a chronic groin injury. It restricted his running and kicking and forced the midfielder to spend time in the forward line.
He signalled at the start of this season that Carlton fans would not see the best of him for several weeks as his body improved after surgery.
