And how did i become subscribed to these threads.

You have posted in the thread I would think.

BigFooty > My BigFooty > Edit Options > Messaging & Notification
Default Thread Subscription Mode > Do not subscribe

Thanks guys, so the only way to unsubscribe is to do it the manual way or can i do it all in one hit?

You have to do it manually, well at least I had to when I was subscribed to so many threads.

Also in 'my bigfooty' is a 'subscribed threads' section. Tick each box on the thread list and delete.

That would have saved me time deleting them all manually.
