What is happening with this kid. Fell in love with him in last years NAB cup. Will they elevate him, please say yes, had heaps of potential. Apologies if this should have gone elsewhere and not at as a new thread.

I think Bucks is a fan of him, so I'd think he'll be elevated.

Hopefully he, Josh Thomas and Rounds are ready to step up.

We might need to make some hard calls on a couple of our senior guys to make sure everyone is on their toes.

AS I've pointed out on other threads, I have been told by someone down at Pieland at the Grand Final dinner that he is getting the axe. We were talking about the Pie list in general and he asked my opinion of who should get delisted. I reeled off a few names and then was stunned when he told me about Bolton and the reason he mentioned it was because he too was surprised when he found out and knew the reaction it would get. I must say he did preface it by saying that he was not 100% sure but that it was what he had heard.

In my opinion, Bolton has loads of potential and has shown it in patches this year with high possession games, a four goal game and regularly featured in our best players at VFL level. I would be more than happy for him to be retained as a rookie and would not be upset if he took a senior spot.

My source is a name that 95% of this board would know so I choose not to name him.

Cant see any rookies being promoted but I can see plenty being cut. Bolton seems to be the best of them .........I woudl expect he'll be retained on the rookie list and he might be the only survivor. Theres no reason WHY he should be promoted but theres certainly no obvious reason why he should be cut, either.

Slightly off topic, what do people think of the idea of Brad Dick being delisted and then if still available, redrafted on the rookie list?

Geez, if that rumour is true (that Jye is cut) it would surprise me.

I rated him (admittedly from what little I had seen) and certainly think he is the best of our rookies. Would have thought he would at least be good for another year on the rookie list.

how come the sources never ever get named... u think were gonna track him down and murder him?

Yeah maybe being over protective but if said persons name were to get back to the club regarding any rumour or fact, one would imagine that their position at the club would be short lived from that point...

Why do you think Bucks is a fan of him?

Could have sworn I remember seeing an interview Bucks was involved in where he mentioned him in a good light.

Wish I could remember if it was on the Black and White show or somewhere else.

Because they can lose their job.

Really, they shouldn't be divulging information to the general public but if this Trojan guy is mates with him then I guess they share a sense of trust. I don't know the connection but yeah, job loss is the issue.

Would be disappointed if it is in fact true that we're cutting him loose.

For mine, he was second to only Fasolo amongst our first year players this year. Seedsman was impressive and Ugle showed a bit, but I think Bolton had them for consistency despite Seedsman's fast finish. In fact, if he was on the senior list I felt he would have warranted an honorary naming on the emergencies list ahead of both.

He was a reliable finisher up forward and found the ball with decent regularity -- good overhead for his size as well. We'll have to wait and see, but I felt he was almost a lock for elevation at some stage next year.

With that said, Seedsman looks to have more tricks and potentially a higher ceiling.

There might be more behind the scenes of course, but his on-field attitude was great and there was nothing but praise for his application during the pre-season. Maybe he's chancing his hand despite minimal exposure and looking for more opportunity elsewhere?

Still holding onto hopes that he'll remain.

Good post. :thumbsu:

Off topic but would love to hear your thoughts on Seedsman. (I'm from Brissy, can't watch the VFL - have heard about your posts with regards to the younger Pies etc.)

Sure thing.

On Seedsman, I don't think we could have asked for much more from what was a speculative pick late in the draft. He's got a lean frame, but didn't look out of place as the season unfolded.

What I liked most about him was his willingness to take the game on and more than that, actually succeed in doing so a lot of the time. During the first half of the VFL season watching the team was like seeing the most frustrating efforts of our senior team circa 2008/2009 against top four opposition who had us pegged.

In short, we'd just play stagnant and predictable down the boundary and when players won the ball at a contest, there would be no spread or vision, coughing it up with ample opposition players free on the counter.

Seedsman played a big part in opening things up for us I felt. He's a fan of distributing candy and capable of a quick side step or change of direction to buy himself space. Once he has space, he can churn it up with decent pace and is a proactive sort who looks to carry and find a meaningful target.

On top of that, he does the little things as well and despite being lean can stick a tackle with gusto. He chases, smothers and above all, puts his head over it when it's his turn.

His ball use can range a bit. He shanked quite a few earlier in the year as he was warming into it and wasn't innocent of the occasional clanger even when he had found his rhythm. He did manage to iron it out for the most part though and proved to be a fairly reliable finisher when he did get forward.

I'm pretty optimistic about his chances heading forward if he keeps putting the work in and the muscle on. Pendlebury was his mentor this year, but his game style could be likened somewhat to Thomas. He does look like he could strike a good balance between the inside and outside aspects of being a mid.

I agree with people in other threads relating to trade/draft targets that suggest some further outside pace would be handy in the seniors. Seedsman could potentially provide that and I suspect he'll get some games next year; likely to start on a forward flank where he'll hold up his end in the pressure stakes, whilst pushing up the wings to link up.

Very early days, but he's shown a bit and hopefully he'll consolidate next year.

Well said and spot on. Reckon he can play as a third lead up tall pushing up the ground as you suggest. Plenty of tricks and capabilities. Really like his a prospect.Seemed a cut above the VFL boys towards the end of the year IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised at this. As I've said on this board before, Jye said to me that he wanted to go to Richmond or Melbourne for better chances.

He was drunk at the time and still don't know if it was his idea of a joke or not, but he said he wanted to go to Richmond or Melbourne, and if you're hearing this stuff, well maybe it's true that he's gone. Which seems a shame to me, bu so be it.

Not saying that he will get anywhere near the heights of this player but does anyone else think Bolton plays like a young Ben Cousins?
