You don't do illegal stuff do you? That would be a pathetic effort, and to mention it in a public forum, damn man think!!!...

Out of 'curiousity' whats wrong with WinMX? My 'friend' uses it... No probs usually, just a shade slow getting new music downloaded... As in 'he' hasn't been able to find Thirsty Merc's newbie and had to buy it

Zeke - do not have a go at me young son. I may have few posts here but i have been seasoned in some of the worlds most uncompromising forums.

I buy music legally but when i go to three stores and all three say that the song i want isn't even in thier online database, what am i to resort too? A lot of singles go out of circulation within months of being made, that means that if i'm looking for an array of songs from the 1980's, my only hope is either the selectively random world of compilation albums, or somebody who hosts the song on the internet.

If this is a stupid thing to say in a forum so be it.

If you're looking for an array of songs from the 80's, your only hope is euthanasia... :D The 1980's were the dark ages of modern music.

I openly admit i am the dark side of modern people!

When the Prince of Darkness is finished feasting on his virgin prey, he could perhaps have a look at Soulseek (good for complete albums), or ODC (organised into hubs so the experience can be more specialised)

Ares is quite a nifty little program, with a comprehensive archive of songs to match Kazaa.
eMule is probably the best local program, depening on where you're closest exchange is situated, eg. PAIX or SAIX for NSW/Qld and SA respectively. You have to ensure that the ISP recognises and permits access to these servers however. Wouldn't recommend using these programs with a dial-up connection.

Bittorrent and DC++ are also great to use aside from Soulseek.

Kazaa is evil, Kazaa Lite is marginally better. But Soulseek, Bittorrent and DC++ have served me the best. eMule is good but I wouldnt reccomend it for dialup users.

beware the many fake kazaa sites they may be trojans or dialer programs

pretty sure you have to pay for the proper kazaa, and many other p2p programs have spyware in them.
