I think the Age and the young liberals are surprisingly ill-informed.
They should read bigfooty.com more. We have our finger on the heartbeat of the Nation.

Federal MP liberal steven ciotto had this to say

"It is quite clear that Katrina has to stay in," he said.

"I've got to confess I haven't had an opportunity to catch an episode of the show but I would be supportive of any Young Liberal in their endeavours to spread the message of small government, individual responsibility and the importance of the family."

Has he seen the photos on BB2.com ? I didn't think family values included 'meaty' photos (not that I mind them personally) but I think the libs would be embarassed if they actively kept her 'in' and it all came 'out' so to speak.

Young Labor would be well served to keep her in rather than try to get rid of her, just for entertainment and libs embarrassment.

I'm surprised the age didn't mention it all - the Hin, in MX did note it last night.

Big Brother goes political
By Dale Paget

Big Brother has become Australia's newest political battleground as Young Liberal and Young Labor supporters attempt to influence the reality TV show.

The revelation that one of last week's eviction nominees, Katrina Miani, was a Victorian Young Liberal, sparked an email campaign by Young Liberals in her home state and New South Wales to keep her in the house.

"We cannot let Katrina, the only YL ever to make the starry heights of Big Brother, suffer the humiliation of being the next Andy voted out of the house," said a supporter in a nationally circulated email.

The email urged Young Liberals to phone in and instead evict Turkan from the Big Brother house, where cameras follow housemates' every move.

Every week three housemates are nominated before one is evicted by audience vote.

News of the Young Liberal campaign leaked to Young Labor Party members, who secretly entered the Big Brother battle with a sabotage plan.

"Katrina on Big Brother is a Lib. So vote her out, and spread the word......" an email from a Young Labor member urged.

Both parties were stumped when the Casanova of the house, Damian, was shown the door on Sunday.

However the battle has only just begun. Katrina was nominated again this week and the political stakes are getting higher.

"The Young Liberals in NSW have no official policy on the expulsions from Big Brother," explained NSW Young Liberals president Ben Franklin yesterday, who said he would support Katrina remaining in the house.

"I believe that Young Liberals should be given all opportunities to be part of the public domain to make whatever contribution they best can."

The Young Labor Party also believes there's political mileage in reaching out to Big Brother.

"The generation that we are trying to appeal to doesn't necessarily read the newspaper everyday. They don't watch the evening news but they are tuning into Big Brother," said national president Lauren McGregor, adding that she wouldn't be discouraging her members from voting out Katrina.

"I'm quite sure the Young Liberals would do exactly the same if we had a person in the house," she said.

The youngest Federal Liberal politician in the country, Steven Ciobo, 28, who is based on the Gold Coast where Big Brother is made, joined the skirmish late today.

"It is quite clear that Katrina has to stay in," he said.

"I've got to confess I haven't had an opportunity to catch an episode of the show but I would be supportive of any Young Liberal in their endeavours to spread the message of small government, individual responsibility and the importance of the family."

Maybe that's how we'll determine a Prime Minister in the future. Stick the pollies in a share house and vote off who gets on our nerves. I'd hate to have to watch the Adults Only version though....

Paul Keating to Big Brother - now that would be a conversation to listen in to !

Howard would be blaming everyone else for everything.

The dot would be most interesting in the shower.

Bronwyn would take control of the fridge.

Vanstone could do the 'bum' dance
