Where thinking of changing our ISP(with bigpond at the moment) but have one problem my Dad uses his email for business with his bigpond email being printed on all his business cards is there anyway we can keep the email and change ISP.

If other providers offer this, surely Telstra should be persuaded to as well. Knowing them, they'll charge a steep amount per month just for this.I know on my old provider they keep your email open for you and then you could just redirect email from their to your current email. Whether telstra do that or not is another matter.....
Bigpond do allow you to keep the email as long as you ask the right way.
I know a heap of people with it and if i remember correctly the plan is something like $30 a year to keep the email address.
Alternatively you could always get a dial up service through them (basically the lowest plan available) and make it so that your email address gets linked to that account.
