Kel's return?

You seem to be shadowing me Chapmanmagic (or maybe the other way around).

Kelly was good, Johnson was good. Prismall was unlucky to be dropped.

His disposal wasn't that bad... Made a few skill errors, but overall he was good. + he knew how to get the ball. 26 touches... although they werent brilliant he wasnt 'very ordinary'.

his decision making was poor often, he put a lot of team mates under pressure with dodgy disposals, and turned the ball over several times. Large possession tallies do NOT equal quality.

very true, seemed to get a lot but would be interested to know how many were actually effective. and doesnt seem accountable to his opponent at times.

Was listening on the radio and in the first quarter, seemed like most times I heard Kelly's name called, a turnover followed shortly afterwards. Don't know about the rest of his game as I didn't see or hear a lot else, but glad to hear that overall there seemed to be some improvement this week.

4/10 - No crispness in his disposal, DMaking average most of the time. Give him another 1 or 2 cracks and if he doesn't step it up - bring in Ricco/Prismall.

4/10 and Pretty ordinary ??? What the. Listen, sure he had some ordinary disposals, but he had 26 or so of them. If anyone rates his game as 'pretty ordinary' or 4/10 you should have your head read.

Go watch the replay, like I have just done (listened to the game on radio, Canberra doesn't get the game until 3am), he DID do some good under the pack things, and some of his ball use was good, far from ordinary.

Probably earned his spot back.

Give me a break! Disposal figures are far from a KPI. I was at the game, and watched the reply last night, he would have been 16-22 in player ratings.

Not committed enough, poor decision making and lacking confidence.

Looking at the list of stats here: http://livescores.afl.com.au/livestats-10161607.html we had 67 tackles, which is a lot. Scarlett is up the top of the possessions list, had 0 tackles, but he's a fullback, so that's ok. Then come all the midfielders. They all had at least a few tackles, except Kelly - 0 tackles also. Not good enough IMO.

I will be opening up the inside footy this week and probably see Kelly rate at least 5 and maybe a 6 out of 10, which is far from a 4.

Stats and figures are not everything I agree, but neither is player rankings. You can have a player with two kicks and two goals, would be rated quite highly at a half over a player with 10-13 possies.

Kelly had 26 touches, 6 marks, no frees for or against. As listed on Pro-stats (The stats that the coaches use), he also had 5 clearances out of a team total of 24. He also had 4 rebounds from 50 and 2 inside 50's. He also has 1 tackle rated on this statpage.

To go along with a goal, that is not an effort that I would rate as a 4. I wouldn't look at the AFL stats, especially the ones on their site, they aren't the best to judge a players performance.

The stats page can be found at:

At times his disposal was ordinary but it was his best game this year. :thumbsu:
keep it up Kel, we need you playing good footy.

A 4 is far from a 5/6. MMmmm!

Stats flattered his contribution.

Disposal and decision making still far too mediocre for one considered to be our resident "Rolls Royce".

there were too many times where he was run down because he was too slow and had no awareness of what was going on around him. Even tho he had a few touches he did nothing to really keep his place in the team. So I think back to the Magoos for him this week.

I'm surprised he had 26 possesions.

He did get a fair bit of it in the first quarter when he first came one. One nice pass to Eagleton who dished it off to Harris for a goal and another where he kicked the ball off the ground and out on the full when he could have picked it up.

The only thing I remember him doing in the second half was setting up Corey for the man behind to intercept on the wing.

4/10 sounds fair to me.

I think some people are being a bit hard on Kel.... He's trying.... !?

He has less heart than any other player in the team, and needs to get over himself and concentrate on his game more. I can't believe I've seen certain papers put him in the best for Sundays game... c'mon... too many errors.

Was not suprised to see him back at Lamby's Sunday night, milking himself for all he's worth. Thompson has said that he only has to have one off performance, and he's back in the 2's.

Dam straight it is... This guy is full of talent, and lost his spot due to a lack of effort, plain and simple. Being the reason why he got dropped, and why Thompson came out in the media after Sundays game and said that he will be put back in the 2's if he doesn't work hard every game. It's about getting the guy focusing on the team rather than his ego...
