A bit of supercoach advise from Sydney fans please...

KENNELLY has had a very impressive start to the season. Scoring much better than he did last year.

What is the reason for this? Is he playing loose man across half back, has his role changed, where has the improvement come from last year?

I know against the tigers he got alot of possies from chipping the ball around the backline.

Is he likely to play the same role all year and keep up the high scores?

Appreciate the help :thumbsu:

Less pressure on him than before. Now that we have Malceski playing a similar role, they don't focus as much on him. With Crouch coming back into the team it's going to cause even more headaches for the opposition.

Watch him and Melcho taking on players while running out of defence, just sensational to watch.

Agree. ^^

He's always had a lot of possessions across the half back line, and moving forward when possible. But so far this year he has found his way up into the midfield and even into the forward line far more than usual. And I think his stats might be starting to reflect that a bit.

Leo playing loose or on second forward is helping him out now as well the opposition team's so far have been more interested in dragging him out of the action instead of Kennelly.

Good post & question , Tiger newbie Footyfan, welcome!

Roos tend to share the unsavoury (non stat accumulating star) roles around, expect some lower stat weeks. Opposition coaches will have noticed how well Kennelly has started... so I would say watch out for games with good defensive forwards.. some teams might even tag him as has happened in the past (particularly Sheedy does this).

He is a gun , improves year by year, and will injury aside (touch wood) be a very important part of team plan! But he does not have to have 25 touches to do his job for the team... sometimes less is more!

just my 2 cents .

Don't be so harsh on yourself. Worth more than 2 cents... 3 cents maybe ;).

In other words, if you give Kennelly the ball, watch him run like a tiger. It is sensational to watch and it can be really damaging running from half back. We've seen him weaving in and out of the midfielders, and kicking it straight to our forward line. Pure gold.

But the problem is.. if they put a tag on Tadhg then they run the risk of Malceski doing Tadhg's running job....hmmm. decisions decision decisions..:p

Not only that.. Leo's back to his AA form. He's running with so much confidence.. ducking weaving.. And Bolton's reputation is getting bigger. What a great game on Sunday vs Brown.. hmm. who says our back's are our weakest point..:D

For the first time this season having a real close look at the Sydney game.

I didn't pick Kennelly in the end for supercoach (but wish I did)

Noticed Kennelly get's alot of the ball, but most is un-contested, however his ball use is very effectve and answers my question which originally stared this thread as to why he is scoring so well.

I also have C.Bolton in my team also and have been watching him very closely tonight. He appears to be an old-school defender, does the body on body work, but will not leave his man. Refuses to peel off his man to create run from the bacline. I guess this is his role and he does it well, but have noticed a few times tonight he has had the chance to peel off, help create run, but failed to do so. He's still having a reasonable game though. :thumbsu:

he gets teh ball in contested situations, begins the run, usually receives off his own work, and sets up forward. he is a running player, and its how he operates.
