my tip is he wont play a game this season:rolleyes:

yeah i agree. bit of a waste IMO. if we have players like schultz, hughes, riewoldt in the forward line i dont see kent fitting in anywhere.
i dont really know why they picked him up in the first place with these types of players coming through.

Kingsley has been injured. He is unlikely to play a game now. Wallace has shifted his priority from finals first and youth development second to youth development first and finals second. Obviously after not starting the season as planned Wallace has had to adjust his plans for this season (i.e the balance between immediate gain and long term gain.).

the demons were 0-5 and still made the finals last year. If more pressure was applied to the coach he would still be targeting the finals but now he will just be concentrating on playing the new boys.

the focus should be on winning games.

They are going to still try to win games despite playing youth. I can't see Wallace saying to Delidio and Tambling to go out there and play their hearts out but don't worry about winning the game.

Kent Kingsley was brought in to challenge other forwards for a senior spot so they would at least know their is no easy game at Richmond which is how it should be.

Just because Wallace is playing youth over experience it doesn't mean he isn't targeting a win. He's just going for a wins with a youth program rather then the rare chance of playing finals with more senior players. If we lose we're going to be losing with the younger players.

Whether playing younger players all season is a good thing or not remains to be seen. The questions that arises are 1. If they start losing every game it could break their confidence 2. It could burn them out. Hopefully none of this happens and we develop a great side.

delist him.
Kingsley, Hall need to go. If we can pick up a ready made ruckman the maybe delist Knobel since he can't even get on the field these days

The demons were 0-3 before beating the swans last year. No team since the AFL started has gone on to make the finals after being 0-4. Last time it happened was sometime in the VFL in the 70's.

I think Kent Kingsley can be a good player for Richmond and just needs a year or two to recover from injuries and settle into the form we all know he is capable of.

 what about that one quarter he played against Freo Mt:eek:

Seriously though, the injuries to Knobel have thrown our team balance out and shown up our lack of depth. If Knobel had been fit, Polak would have been playing down back all year. The move last week to throw Richo in as second ruck worked, but will it continue to work? I reckon Richo is a forward and, whether our forward line is better or worse for it, that is really the only place he will play consistently. Richo is a forward, only a forward and nothing but a forward. Any forays elsewhere may work in the short term, but wont work long term.

So, for whatever his merits, until we find a better option, Knobel is the second best ruckman we have. And, while I disagree with Santa Claws and PLSC on plenty of things, I think they are spot on about using the rookie list to try and find good big blokes.

The nuisance of insurance is that you hope you never get value for money.

Polak, McGuane, Moore, JON and Thursfield would have had a combined total of fewer than 10 good games in defence for Richmond. All had/have question marks. Gaspar was insurance. That we are comfortable not playing him is a good thing.

Kingsley would have been a good back-up for Brown in the first 5-6 weeks. Good insurance for Richo if he needed a week or two off.
Would have taken an opponent away from Pettifer and freed him up.
Would have meant that Pat Bowden could stay in defence.
Would have meant that Simmonds could ruck and not have to rest up forward.
Would have meant that if Hughes and Schulz had not improved their attitudes we had an option.
Would have been insurance against Reiwoldt taking time to get ready.
Could play immediately unlike Limbach.
Could be delisted after 1 year unlike an extra draftee who would be a 2 year deal.
At worst would give the Coburg kids a leading forward to practice kicking too.
Would have let Pattison ruck and not play forward.

The whole front-half is in disarray at the moment - unfortanately Kingsley's injury was badly timed.

For all that the thinking was sound.

Plan A was always Richo, Brown and Pettifer
Plan B was always Schulz, Hughes and Reiwoldt.

Kingsley was insurance. If we don't have to use him - brilliant.

I think you have to go back to the 50's. Bulldogs lost their first 5 matches in 53 and went on to make the finals (think that was their first final win ever in the VFL). They won their only premiership the next year.

I think Terry Wallace needs to lay off the youth policy and give some slack to the veterans. I think its great Wallace is getting young blood into the tigers, and im sure that all his work will pay off (hopefully with a long awaited flag), but the fact we are 0-6 and at the bottom of the ladder says different. Kingsley needs to get a game at AFL level with the tiges.

I think you will find Kent will be in as long as he does ok this week for Coburg , I hear they just want to make sure he is match fit before putting him in. If he kicks goals this week I think he will be in next week

Didnt he kick 8 with coburg the other week? that sounds like match fit to me. Replace him with someone who has a lower goal percentage in the forward line. If he's crap in front, put him in the pocket. Everyone wins, hopefully.
