SFL Premier League side Kingston has changed its name and will be known as the Kingborough Tigers next season.
Club chairman Jim Evans said the move, made at the annual general meeting, would make the club more attractive to a wider, growing market and provide better membership, marketing and sponsorship opportunities.
``While the club has a very proud heritage and tradition, to prosper and grow and become successful at all levels it was time to take the next step and embrace the club's wider market,'' Evans said.
``Developing the young talent in the municipality and providing the best possible pathway for footballers south of Hobart, the club needed to be progressive and forward.''
The club also announced its coaching staff for next season, with Adrian Goodwin to stay on as senior coach and former AFL player Trent Nichols as assistant coach.
Damian Smith will coach the reserves, with Cameron de Gooyer to take the reins of the under-19s.
The Tigers' pre-season starts at the Recreation St ground, Kingston Beach, at 6pm on Monday.
