Knobel would be a very good pick up. He was about the only ruckman who could match Ottens with his leap, so if we get him we should win alot of hit outs, hopefully to our players . I suppose he is decent around the ground too.

Absolutely spot on TOO. It's just nice being in a position where we a gonna pick 5 of the best 20 available young kids on offer as well as having picked up troy simmonds and offloaded a bloke who was earning twice as much as he deserved. I think miller and wallace have done a fantastic job so far and now to be in a position to be able to pick up one of bowden, knobel, ackland, keating would be absolutely fantastic.
The future looks bright.

Although I don't mind Pat Bowden as a player IITB, is he going to be any benefit in a KP? He doesn't seem overly tall or quick, I feel he may be better suited on a flank or pocket. I do agree with you however that finally we seem to be making the best out of having a shocking season, rather than just bringing out the bandaids again.

Knobel is 24 (25 by round 5, 2005) and has allready had 6 years of footy at 2 different clubs. He gets hitouts but that is all and is deplorable around the ground. 2004 was the first year he actually managed to be in a team's best 22 and that was because they had no other options because Brooks isn't working out.
Bowden is 23 and had 5 years. He is not a genuine key position player and gets the ball because he is used as the decoy forward to keep defenders from double teaming Darcy. He is hugely inconsistant as a result and again only had his first good year this year, but still got dropped.
Neither really appeals.
Well Bowden is staying at the dogs, so we can cross his name off. Without a doubt we will be chasing a second string Ruckman now

Knobel's decision to leave St Kilda and Bowdens decision to stay at the Bulldogs were coincidentally close.
Knobel is just a battler in the ruck. Goes ok at the hitouts but doesn't do much else. Would fill a role as 2nd or 3rd ruckman.

maybe plough is thinking of simmonds or stafford in the ruck for the first 20 mins of each quarter, then knobel off the bench who bashes the heck out of the other teams ruckman for 10 mins while staff or simmo rest up forward.

maybe blake would be a better option seeing that he can actually play in other positions than ruck. knobel is not very versatile.
