Should debut against the dogs :thumbsu:

He was one of Victoria's best midfield talents from last years draft, he's always been up thier along side them.

He fell away for numerous reasons, how much was injury related we will find out.

He is a great workhorse, clean hands, great defensive and second efforts. Very strong overhead and reliable infront of goals.

37 touches and a goal in a losing East Fremantle side today. His debut isn't far away at all.

I can see us building a midfield around him. He just does some great bulk clearence work and has allot more weapons than Priddis in terms of speed, space making ability, marking power and kicking skills.

Will be much better than Pridis, has better pace and better foot skills.

Can't see Pridis playing anywhere but on-ball so maybe A Selwood will get moved back to defense once Stevens has cemented his place in the midfield.:thumbsu:

We can only hope.;)

The crows went into the draft thinking that they would land Koby at 13, they rated him extremely high.
The fact that Talia dropped was a shock. Cant understand why Koby dropped to 22?

True I felt he was a Steal at 22 for the Eagles

Kid is a very good chance to become a star.
Was outstanding yesterday. And his body is so mature for his age.

Dropped due to questionable disposal by foot I believe, possibly his groin issues also, although the two may be linked.

The Quality in the second of the midfielders the last years draft was very good with Bastinac, Duncan, Stevans and Colyer. Hopefully Bartlett as well if he can come back from his other knee.

Whilst watching the draft, there was one played I was hoping would not be picked until #24 (Essendon's second selection). That was Koby Stevens. After watching each team announce who they have selected, I was nervously waiting for Stevens' name to not be read out. After North Melbourne picked Bastinac, I thought we had him. Eagles picked Weedon with #22, and with #23, one pick before us, they choose Stevens. I was so dissapointed.

Best of luck to him at West Coast, he will become a jet :thumbsu:

Also hoping for Carlisle (#24) and Colyer (#26) to become very good, otherwise it would hurt more knowing we nearly had Stevens.

How is Gerrick Weedon looking? Despite having a terrible name, is he progressing alright?

I thought he was taken a bit early

Holy shit... I always assumed Koby Stevens was black.

You learn something every day.

Only the most astute Colts followers can really comment on Weedons draft position.

Had injuries and has only played six games this season in total and three WAFL games for Claremont. Id be suprised to see him play this season at AFL level.

I like him, his future really depends on being able to develop running power to play forward and then press up into the midfield. He is a bigger, fast and more powerful version of LeCras for mine, he has similar clearence ability and is a silky mover.

Steven's is the type of midfielder that you are still crying out for. You're spine is set, but it is and has always been the lack of pure mids that has been missing from Essendon.

Richmond set to kick on next year
Jackson told club connections there were four players picked in the first round of the national draft who didn't meet the club's new kicking standards.

Hard-nut Koby Stevens, one of the surprise draft sliders eventually taken by West Coast at pick 23, is believed to have ticked every box except the Tigers' kicking requirement and was therefore overlooked at pick 19.

I think "is believed" should be the emphasized word in that quote general. We were always going to take Griffiths ahead of him and we never got another chance.

I think Koby may of had OP during/before the state games hence why he slid in the draft.
