Kogan TVs...any thoughts?

They look like a pretty good deal, thinking of buying a 46 inch LCD. Any experience with them and any problems?

the picture quality is crap. they have very poor contrast, detail and colour accuracy. the internal speakers are shit too.

With the price of entry-level Panasonic and Samsung plasma TVs which have a much superior picture, you shouldn't even bother with kogan.

Really? Wasn't there some exposé on how they use the exact same panels as name brands? Anyway I'm on the lookout for a new TV and was considering these guys... except for the fact that all of their TVs come with DVD players and tuners built in. I don't want them, I already have a ps3 with playTV damn it!

There are very few actual manufacturers of LCD and plasma panels in the world. They all share the panels. The final picture quality comes down to not only the panel itself, but also the processing, video scaling, screen filter, etc. PQ on Kogan LCD TVs is some of the worst I've seen in current models.

If you were spending $500, you'd save a few more pennies and and get (as mentioned above) an entry level Pana for about $900.
