Kostya Tszyu retained his undisputed 140 lb world title with a unanimous points decision over a gutsy Ben Tackie. 2 judges scored it 12 rounds to nil, whilst one must have gone for a leak and thought he'd award one round to Tackie. KT never looked in trouble, Tackie came into the fight having never been knocked off his feet and KT simply outboxed him, whilst appearing never to be trying to knock him out. All in all a very good fight, Tackie never giving up and showing a lot of heart but Tszyu showing himself to be a class above.
Whether or not Kostya decides to move up to 147 lb and take on the likes of Shane Moseley and Vern Forrest remains to be seen.
Congratulations KT, a real champion.

A good effort, I get the feeling this was one of those fights where Tsyzu came in with a plan and executed it perfectly. Great tactics, he knew Tackie was touch and had an iron plated chin so he just outboxed him and took it to the scorecards.

Be interesting to see who he fights next and where.

On a negative note I just read Mickey Ward got the decision over Gatti.

Fight of the year they reckon. Ward dropped him in the 9th with those well known body shots of his.

Tackie was very predictable and I was a bit disapointed. Then again he looked ordinary under Lewis-Tua and Teddy Reid isnt much.

I hope Tszyu doesnt take another 6 months off.

Good to see they found another banana for Green.

Oba Carr is dead set shot. No legs and defense is nearly gone. Surprised he is still fighting after his last couple efforts.

Fletch, from what I read I believe Kostya is only planning one more fight this year, that being against whoever is thrown up as number 1 contender in a mandatory defence.

From reading a few things on the Ward - Gatti fight I'm spewing I missed it - more than one website is already calling it the fight of the year:(

Well done Kostya. keeps on winning these fights, and is going a fair way to becoming one of Australias best ever boxers.

Gatti lost a point for a low blow which didn't help matters, if theres no rematch Ward has a good claim to be the next inline for a shot at Tszyu.

On Green's opponent, wasn't he a walking pillow? He looked like a Welterweight. Let's hope he fights De Lisle or Mundine soon although I wouldn't hold my breathe.

Carr's washed up, can't believe he thought he won that fight its time to hang up the gloves.

I know what you mean NDG, its a shame we don't see the great fighters more reguarly in action. It comes down to money plain and simple. Give me the good old days when legends like Robinson and Louis would fight each week or at least once a month when they wanted a rest, they were true warriors.

Mandatory defences can be a pain in the arse too, just look at earlier this year when the IBF made Roy Jones fight Glen Kelly, complete mismatch.

On a similar boxing note did anyone else think Voss looked like Trevor Berbick flip flopping around after taking a hit last night?

Probably not, I'll just check it out on Fox most likely. I'm four hours away from Melbourne so it takes something special for me to get off my butt and travel down.

Who is on the Jamie Myer card? Is that the one where Taylor is making his return?
