I decided to have a look at each teams list and look at possible players that we might be targetting for the KPP role we need.

ADELAIDE
Scott Welsh
Brett Burton
Ian Perrie
Fergus Watts

I cant see Adelaide trading Scott Welsh, but stranger things have happened. Speaking to Adelaide fans, both Perrie and Burton would be happily traded. I have included Watts, but as they are taking the youth policy now, I would be really surprised to see them let this super young talent go.
Most Likely: Ian Perrie, Brett Burton

BRISBANE
Daniel Bradshaw

Have been interested in Daniel for some years now, the club that is, but havent been able to prize him away. With Lynch due to retire soon, he will take the FF position, and after last night showed what he is capable of. Add to that his value would have severly increased.
Most Likely: -

CARLTON
Lance Whitnall
Brendan Fevola

Is public knowledge that we have shown interest in Lance, as it appears increasingly likely that he will be traded. Comes with A LOT of baggage, never really living up to his potential and with a history of injury problems, not to mention his constant battle with his weight. Fevola appears to be a permanent fixture at Carlton, but it is also known that he has had run-ins with both Pagan and Collo over his media work. He is on the berge of signing a new deal with Ch 9, against the wishes of both Pagan and Collo. Was sacked by Carlton when Brittain was coach, but was saved when Pagan come on board, and with the recent differences between Fev and the power men, there may be a slight slight chance of a trade.
Most Likely: Lance Whitnall

COLLINGWOOD
Chris Tarrant

It has been reported that Chris wants to leave Collingwood and head elsewhere. There are numerous GFC fans that are very keen to get Taz to the club. As with Lance, he also comes with baggage, but not quite as much. His disciplinary issues still come to the surface, as was seen by his suspension this year and his run in with Johnson at Billboards. A clean start might do him the world of good, as we all know he quit Collingwood a few years ago to head back up to Mildura, but was persuaded back.
Most Likely: Chris Tarrant

ESSENDON
-

FREMANTLE
Troy Simmonds

Has been touted as leaving Fremantle, possibly to return to Victoria. Started at Melbourne before going to Freo. Is a tall, strong forward to managed to beat Scarlett when the 2 teams played at Subi in Round 5. There is a question mark over his marking sometimes, but he has improved that area of his game recently, and has a strong left foot kick. Kicked 33 goals this year and played all 22 games. Is also a more than handy back up in the ruck.
Most Likely: Troy Simmonds

HAWTHORN
Nathan Thompson

Has been suffering from severe depression as of late, and who can blame him playing at Hawthorn! But in all seriousness, has proven himself, when on fire, to be a very capable strong marking forward. Has the height and the size to be able to hit packs and take strong pack marks, something that we desperately need. Is 26yo, which wont be too much of a worry. Rawlings was a similar age when we went after him last year. With a new coach at Hawthorn, there are always changes and Thompson, despite being the Vice-Captain, might find himself on the outer.
Most Likely: Nathan Thompson

KANGAROOS
Leigh Brown

This young, mobile big man is capable of playing a number of roles, from defender to forward. Started the season in a blaze of glory, slamming home 6 against Adelaide at the MCG, but only kicked 15 for the year. Is a good size and age for what we are after, and despite play all 22 games this year just couldnt quite find a settled spot which may cause him to look elsewhere. Was a Rising Star Nominee in 2000.
Most Likely: Leigh Brown

MELBOURNE
Russell Robertson

Is an exciting, strong marking forward. His downfall is he can has the tendancy to be hot and cold, and struggles to get into the game. Isnt really a strong leading forward that is capable of kicking 4 goals every week and taking the best defender. More suited to being the 2nd best forward, alongside Neitz.
Most Likely: -

PORT ADELAIDE
Stuart Dew
Toby Thurstans

Appears as though Dew might be on his way out of Alberton, but isnt really capable of holding down a KPP position. Very much the same as Russell Robertson. Toby Thurstans is a young up and comer, that could fill the KPP role in the future, but at the moment isnt really what we are after. Played all 22 games this year, both in defence and down forward kicking 21 goals.
Most Likely: -

RICHMOND
Brad Ottens

Each year the rumour of what will happen to Ottens. Almost all the time is rumoured to be heading back to SA. We all know what he is capable of, but with a new coach and a new game plan he might be able to reach his potential. No doubt the club will look at him, and see what Richmond has to say.
Most Likely: Brad Ottens

ST KILDA
-

SYDNEY
-

WEST COAST
Ashely Hansen
Paul Johnson
Andrew McDougall

Both Hansen and Johnson are both top prospects that would fit in very well to the Geelong linw up. Hansen has shown glimses of what he is capable of for WCE this year, while Johnson didnt manage a game this year. They are both big strong kids originally from Victoria, and Johnson would be looking out for more opportunities. McDougall is very similar to Hansen, but has taken his chances and is now a key part to WCE future.
Most Likely: Ashley Hansen, Paul Johnson

WESTERN BULLDOGS
Jade Rawlings

It has been mentioned by some Bulldog fans that they are keen to depart with Rawlings, and with Geelong interested last year, we could see us take an interest again. After his trouble this year, his value would have decreased as will Geelong's interest. But may also be worth a look.
Most Likely: Jade Rawlings

There is quite a list of players that the club will have a look at, and with Brian Cook on SEN refusing to name names, it is clear we dont want to let out who we are after. The 5 days from October 4-9 will be very interesting to see what we do. Ashley Hansen, Paul Johnson and Nathan Thompson are the ones I would be after. Chris Tarrant and Leigh Brown would also be worth a look, but only if we can get Tarrant at the right price.

A lot of them arent even KPP's (Dew Burton Welsh) and a few others are not even worth looking at (Thurstans, Perrie).

Tarrant, Ottens and Fevola are the pick of the bunch (is fevola out of contract though?) and id hope Geelong put an offer to Tarrant and I know they have already put one to Ottens. we'll have the picks to trade to get them, so its a matter of luck being on our side for once in a trade week.

of that list the ones that i see as the best that would be attainable would be thompson, ottens and whitnall.

the order of preference would be:
1 Ottens
2 Thompson
3 Whitnall

I would say Scott Welsh is a KPP. He plays FF for Adelaide and in the latter half of the season started producing some good form. Perrie can hold down a Key Forward Position. Dew and Burton are more flankers, so you are correct with them. Thurstans, although he hasnt proved it at the moment, would be capable of holding down a position IN THE FUTURE. I put these names is due to the fact their supporters had put their names up for trade, thought it would be worth including them.

Welsh just signed a new contract with Adelaide, don't think he's tradeable.

Nana , in round terms, what are we looking at in damage. Talking with a friend this morn we would estimate that to get the Otto deal done we would have to:
Meet his $ demands, probably making him in top 3 at Geelong
and
Give 2 players from our top 25 ( which means 2 probably from the Sat night side unless they are willing to take Spriggs as a top 25 player)+ R1pick
or
trade to get another R1 pick and give 2 R1 picks

Could we live with this?

I would think the trade could be our first round our second round and one of Enright, Spriggs, Rahilly or Rooke. If they dont accept this offer then i think wed have to move on as this is fairly generous, or we could look at maybe:

Spriggs and Second round to melbourne
Travis Johnstone to geelong
Johnstone and Geelongs First round to Richmond
Ottens to Geelong

Something like that.

And as far as $ terms go, I'd imagine hed be around the 400k mark which wed be able to afford.

Melbourne would not let Johnstone go for Spriggs and a second round pick.
Were you drinking when you were thinking of this?
Why would the tigers want Rooke, Rahilly or Enright ?
The tigers do not want more draft picks. They allready have 3 of the top 20.
They would want a quality player in return or because Ottens is a kpp they would probably want two or three. I don't believe the cats are prepared to give up what the tigers would want.
Personally I would offer Moloney, Kingsley and Wocjinski.

No i wasnt drinking....

The Tigers would be silly not to look at more draft picks, and good ones at that. The way we have gone about rebuilding is by having 6 high picks in drafts and using them wisely. Wallace, like Thompson did has time on his side when he Tarded colbert and was able to get Corey Spriggs Bray Ling Enright Chpaman and Foster. & picks inside the top 50. And ditto when we got Bartel Kelly Gardiner Johnson Ablett Playfair Johnson and McCarthy. we had 4 picks in the top 23.

To trade away our Leading (albeit unreliable goalkicker) a gun winger and Mooney who has been fantastic this year would be silly. We have 2 draft picks which this time round we can afford to trade as we have great young talent and trading them for a player rather than tarding players would be a step forward and not a steap back. Trading key players means we have to wait for younger ones to develop. Why trade our leading goal kicker when we cant kick enough goals????? were YOU drinking?

Where did I mention Mooney?

I have never met you nana but I think you could play ff and kick 45 goals in 25 games if the team dominated the midfield like it did.

All we needed in the last quarter on saturday night was a forward who could have crashed the pack and bought the ball to ground. Kingsley can not make a contest and when he does he dodges around it.

What pub do you want to meet at for a few beers!!!!

He played so many positions because he was North's best option in so many positions. That wouldn't change if he played for Geelong.

What makes Johnson a "top prospect" and what has he done to show you that he would not only make our team, but be a 'good fit'?

Johnson has shown nothing at WAFL level, a league where a good young AFL quality tall should at least play some quality football.

Those who talk him up as a good trade target obviously haven't seen him play and are simply relying on the fact that he went top 25 a few years back.

!!!!

My mistake, i didnt see the L, but it would probably make me less inclined to do the trade.

And, if you say anyone could kick 45 goals, how come Graham and Haynes havent been able to Kick more goals?

Listening to SEN tonight. Robert Shaw and Dernie were having a talk about the Cats chasing a forward.Shaw thought that other clubs would need some serious reembusment in player stock to give us, a top 4 side another player worth 50 goals.
It makes me think, we may now be more attractive to players on the move but are now threating to other clubs and therefore they will want more
