Well after reading that article..

COLLINGWOOD
UNCONTRACTED

Josh Fraser Anthony Rocca(?) Leon Davis.
NEED
Midfield speed and carry (James Bartel)

FREMANTLE
UNCONTRACTED
Troy Longmuir Paul Medhurst Anthony Jones Dion Woods Robert Haddrill.
NEED
Quick, robust midfielder. (James Bartel)

HAWTHORN
UNCONTRACTED
Jade Rawlings Mark Graham Adrian Cox Angelo Lekkas Tim Clarke.
NEED
Centre-square animal. (Maybe Bartel Again)

WESTERN BULLDOGS
UNCONTRACTED
Luke Darcy Nathan Brown Robert Murphy Daniel Giansiracusa Mitch Hahn
NEED
Monstrous, meaty defenders Milburn?

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Although i don't think some of our players match up with what they need they could be a chance. Milburn and Bartel are out of contract and we need foward kicking goals. Opinions?

Can't see Milburn going anyway, Bartel is a definite possibility though. The guy eats too much!!

I don't really see out of any of the options you've highlighted a realistic swap happening, could well be a three way deal.

My pecking order, from the players we have been linked to, would be:

1. Nathan Thompson
2. Anthony Rocca
3. Jade Rawlings
4. Lance Whitnall
5. Trent Croad
6. Scott Lucas
7. Daniel Bradshaw (I think I got the right one :p)

My pecking order would be:

1. Jade Rawlings
2. Nathan Brown - Working in tandem with Ablett would be a treat to watch.
3. Nathan Thompson
4. Daniel Bradshaw
5. Lance Whitnall

I wouldn't touch the rest.

1. Jonathon Brown
(daylight)
2. Rocca
3. Thompson
4. Lucas
5. Wittnall
6. Rawlings
7. Croad

I know Rawlings is doing really well this year but I would still have the others ahead of him. Can't explain it, it's just my gut feeling.

Seems like you and the dogs have the sameish shopping list.

Hopefully you will win one more game this year, so we will have the extra low pick to outbid you with. Pick #3.

Rocca will not be going anywhere. Hawthorn trading one of either Thompson or Rawlings is slightly possible if tempted with a juicy enough deal. Especially now that Hunter is getting a game.

(hint: last sentence is joke)

Yas wouldnt be interested in Patrick Wiggins would ya? How about Wiggo for big Peter Street? Seems pretty fair to me.

Oh and by the way, Robert Murphy isnt going anywhere. :D

I know the AFL will allow the Bulldogs to spend more than the current 94% of their salary cap to retain some of their players but I cant see how they will let them spend anywhere close to 100% to go out and buy players from other clubs. Its just not fair while they are receiving assistance.

I remember last year Doggies players where mighty ****ed they had to take 15% pay cuts after the trade period had ended to stay at the club. They club needed to get from about 98 -99 % of the cap down to 94%. Players were basically held to ransom and given no options. 15% is alot of money if you were on say $400K.

Those players will be looking for increases this year. I think we must be able to outbid the Doggies if any gun forwards come on the market. We need to use our financial advantage over them.

You wouldn't touch Rocca. Come on lets be serious. He is exactley the presence we need. If he somehow become available we would take him in a heartbeat. I would also take Croad over Bradshaw. He is younger, taller, more talented, more versitile, and agile then Bradshaw. Granted he is also more inconsistant but as I said he is young and will only improve. Taking a punt on him has far more chance of being successful long term IMO.

I agree.

Trent Croad would not only be able to play up forward, but could also be thrown down back if we got into trouble with injuries to Scarlett, Harley or Graham.

I would be happy with either Bradshaw or Croad . Bradshaw is probobly a better full forward but because of lynch hasn't played there for a couple of years and may surprise. Croad has everything our current key forwards don't have ATHLETICISM ,speed and some defencive skills.
