Krakouer and Macaffer racing against clock

Krak is racing the clock in more ways than one. I believe both guys can see a GF in the offing and both must also realize that their positions in the squad, whilst not lost are under threat and want to make contributions to get back into calculations.

I think he ruled them out to the extent they were not part of the plans and that's not likely to change. Not terribly different to the clocks against them. If everything goes right in their rehab they have a small window to get back then have to play some footy.

I would love to see krak make it back as i don't believe we have anyone with his x factor in our forward line. If caff makes it back, he is probably competing with Goldy for that third tall spot.

I would have thought that the odds against either of them getting back in a condition where they'd be considered for selection would be mamoth. Just to get back on the park would be a massive effort let alone gaining match conditioning and regaining confidence. Would love to see it but probably a pipe dream IMO.

Taking Nathan Brown as guide (yes rough I know). He did his knee in early Feb 2011, and yet went to Arizona (R12-R13) with a view to be ready to play within 4-6 weeks.

Now both Kraks & Caff did their knees in feb '12 (18 & 25th to be extact)...so by my calcs end of July they might be doing ball skills etc with a view to playing in VFL. Both would need at least 2-3 weeks in VFL..meaning they might be available for AFL selection around R22-R23. The big question is then do you play them if ready and fit?

For Kraks I would say yes, and a maybe for Caff...but both could be available for finals if the need arises.

All it does is just add to our depth for the finals push and makes those players they might fear being left out really fight even harder to keep their place in the team.

Realistically they are only about a 10% chance of being match fit and in touch by the finals. The other thing to remember is that coaches don't want to disrupt a team unit close to the finals if they have a choice.

Would be great depth in case of injuries, otherwise can't see it happening.

If Elliott and Sinclair continue their development, they would just about get a game ahead of these two on their merits if all were fully fit. Would be nice to see them back this year, but I don't think we will try to rush them back.

I'd like Johnno back moreso than these two
Same here, we have now covered the absence of Krakouer and Caff with players like Sinclair, Fasolo, Elliott and Goldsack, while our midfielders have stepped up and are assisting the forward line also.

But as shown the other night, we still have problems at half back, Clarke is suspect under extreme pressure, and we had young Marley Williams on Hams and although he did a great job in the second half he was beaten early.

BJ is also more likely to return than the others, rumours are he will be ready for contact training in about 6 weeks, which gives him a month or so to get some match fitness under his belt before the finals.

In the interview Bucks said that the three of them are around 3 weeks away from resuming track work. Best case scenario would see them playing in the reserves 2-4 weeks after that. That indicates that they're 6-8 weeks from playing which falls into the highly unlikely category for mine.

I reckon Ben Johnson is crucial.

He is a huge upgrade on Clarke, Buckley and Williams. In fact, I'd have Williams ahead of the other 2 already.

Clarke has been ok this year, but he is just too slow with his hands and isn't a great decision maker.

I still think Krakouer is a legitimate chance to be back before finals.

I remember Dids having a knee reco at the end of 06, and being back by Round 1 07. Just seems the type for some reason.

Macaffer and Ball, no chance, and Johnno is 50/50.

I'd give BJ a 30% chance and Krak 20%.

The reason that these two are any chance at all is that they're both toward the ends of their careers. BJ should be able to do some running and build his fitness with his shoulder before any contact work. If he is thinking of retiring anyway he may as well throw everything at playing again even if his shoulder is not 100%.

Krak had from reports a less evasive surgery than a traditional reco and as a small forward may not require the running capacity and fitness back as long as he get's his sharpness and skills. I just think that having Krak at the feet of Dawes and Cloke would be a real weapon come finals.

The problem is that our VFL team won't be in finals, so they won't be able to use that to potential get match fit leading up to a late finals berth.

Do we have more than one Krakouer, or one that is a legitimate chance then no chance in the space of one paragraph?

Geez Id love to see Johnson and Krak back for the finals.
Could you imagine if Johnson got back, with what could be his last season. The boys (especially his mates, Swan, Dids, Taz, etc) would go through hell to win the GF together.
