I know he doesn't play for us any more, however it is still a shame to see this happen to an ex-Richmond player.

Krakouer found guilty of serious assault20:11 AEST Wed Jun 18 200841 minutes agoVIEWS: 0| FLOCKS: 0| 0 comments so farFormer Richmond AFL star Andrew Krakouer is behind bars in Perth on Wednesday night after being found guilty by a District Court jury of serious assault.

Twenty-five-year-old Krakouer, his younger brother Tyrone and cousin Elwyn Colbung were involved in an attack on 24-year-old Justin Martin outside a nightclub in Fremantle in December 2006.

Andrew Krakouer was found guilty of assault with intent to cause bodily harm, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' jail.

Tyrone was found guilty of a lesser assault charge, while Colbung was acquitted.

During the trial, Mr Martin admitted to "king-hitting" Krakouer in 2001 amid a long-standing feud between female members of his own family and the Krakouer clan.

Mr Martin said when the pair next met outside the Harbourside nightclub in Fremantle, Krakouer challenged him to a fight, saying, "let's sort it out now".

Krakouer, from a famous footballing family, was delisted from the AFL after playing 102 matches and kicking 102 goals for Richmond.

His football career is almost certainly over after Justice Kate O'Brien indicated a non-custodial sentence was unlikely.

She ordered Krakouer undergo a "full blown" psychological assessment.

"My uncertainty at this stage is whether he has an underlying anger management problem or whether this is an aberration," Justice O'Brien said.

"It is still a mystery to me as to why you went over the top that night ... there might be some underlying issues there."

Prosecutor Bruno Fiannaca told the court that Mr Martin, who was in a coma after the fight, has suffered ongoing psychological problems.

"The fear of going out and the fear of not knowing who might be around the corner ... the fear of being challenged," Mr Fiannaca said.

Outside the court, Justin's father Gregory said he hoped the family feuding would now end.

"At one stage there there was a bit of tribal punishment going on, but if justice is seen to be done then we'll be happy with that," he told Network Ten.

The Krakouer brothers were remanded in custody and will be sentenced next month.

This might sound w@nky ... but how sad for a bloke who had the world at his feet 5 or so years ago ...

Lesson for any young bloke out there who takes shit for granted .

Forget about what you thought about this bloke as footballer ... just terrible that his life turned out this way

Doesn't sound w@nky, unfortunately it happens all too often, bloke gets in a fight and more damage is done than intended. A shame for it to happen to anyone, not to mention the victim and the victim's family. A hard lesson to learn.

I did a comparison I while a go with Leon Davis and Krakker. Virtually Identical for the first 100 games. Collingwood's persistence has paid off... I think Leon would have been shown the door at our club.

Krakker I believe still had the tools to become a very god player. His fitness level was increasing. It's a sad tale.

and that's just what it is,your Honor.

One only need research his highly documented professional career to find suffice evidence that aggression, least of all with intention, was never a part of his professional agenda,in a situation where it can be questioned that others may not share the same sentiment....your honor.

True Oxx,

Frawley's time at tigerland was what I call an aberration, and wasnt it Frawley who said when we first drafted Krakouer that he would make sure he was a father figure for Andrew ??

I wonder if Danny has even spoken to Andrew

102 games, 102 goals. Wierd

I can't understand how any AFL player could get themselves into this situation. These clubs have put a huge amount of time, money and trust into each and every player and you go and throw that all away. Some of them just don't see how lucky they are to be a part of the AFL.

the other bloke sounds like a soft c*ck...

scared of going out cos he doesnt wanna b challenged and is scared of what might be hiding behind the big dark corner.

at least krak challenged him, wasn't he the one who king hit him back in 2001?

weak as pi$$
