Behind Ponting, is he the number one batsman in the world right now? His innings have been absolutely brilliant and most importantly when his team have been against the 8 ball...lets not forget his 2 brilliant centuries in NZ when the rest of the team have struggled.

I think that sooner or later he will be the number one batsman in the world. He is still only 27 or there abouts so has a lot of time ahead of him.

Should end up with 10 000 test runs

Yousuf is the best test player at the moment IMO

But Ponting is better overall due to his one day abilities

IMO Ponting is still the best Test Batsman, but, I can see where you are coming from though.

Yousuf, besides one or two 50's (I think) did not get a century in South Africa.

I think it's very, very close, but I think Ponting is slightly ahead.

Oops no sh*t.

I forgot about him. And also Liam Plunkett

It would have to be:

1. Paul Nixon
2. Miles
3. Liam Plunkett
4. Miles
5. Ricky Ponting
6. Mohammad Yousuf
7. Kumar Sangakarra

Thanks for the reminder :thumbsu:

No Dalrymple?

What about Loye?

Where's Yardy?

Good to see a sense of humour on display.

Sanga has been great in the past year and does make runs under pressure.

Nobody can question Yousuf but hasn't he struggled a bit in South Africa?

He made an 80 odd, but not alot else from memory. Hasn't got a great career record in South Africa.

Yep, Yousuf struggled a bit in Sri Lanka, not making a century, but they were bowling wickets, and no-one batted really well. He still made a few half-centuries, and batted well.

I think it's Ponting, Yousuf and Sangakkara

Well Sanga is a world class Keeper and Ponting is the best fielder in the world. What else can MoYo do?
I still do think he is that great in ODI's. The only Paki that seems to be consistent is Inzi because he seems to get them out of trouble most of the time.
