does anyone know much about this guy, he has to be up there in the gilchrist / andy flower mould judging by some of his recent scores. he is the keeper from sri lanka. hopefully the english posters on this board could rate this guy, and how he bats (and keeps). are his scores just inflated coz thye play teams like bangladesh, or is he geniunely a class act?

Yeah, my mate is Sri Lankan - so I follow Sri Lanka quite a bit.
Sangakkara is a young raw left handed batsman, he's good against the quicks, but he an average player of spin.

The reason he has a high average is because Sri Lanka have played quite a lot on the sub-continent and against average test nations recently. But he scored 200 odd against Pakistan, so he's got talent - it'll be good to see him in Australia against quality quicks!

well im watching the SAF v SL game on fox at the moment, *yawn* im an idiot coz i have to work tomorrow morning... oh well, but it is getting interesting.

it's currently tea and jaques kallis is bowling like a demon possessed. unfortunately didnt see sangakkara bat, but Ntini is a much faster bowler than when i last saw him play against us. also Andrew Hall is bowling with fire and moving the ball both ways.

im hoping sri lanka get rolled in the final session so i can have a look at murali in action. the wicket is already starting to deteriorate on the first day, with some balls bouncing twice before reaching boucher, whilst others almost sail over his head.

Jayasuriya was batting well until he copped a beauty from kallis, which caught the edge and he was claimed by Smith in 2nd slip. H Fernando on debut played a reckless pull shot and was caught for a duck. Sri Lanka look to be in all sorts after a very slow start with the bat (or perhaps im just used to the frenetic pace the aussies play at).
