How is this guy comming along?
I look through our list and we have so many un-tried players, hard to know what to make of them.
Can someone give me an insight?

Wasn't he only Pick 70 or something?

Can'texpect much from down that low. No biggie if he doesn't cut it ...

You Key Postion Players is a worry though...

More so if Archi doesnt cut it.

Yeah, that's probably more what I was getting at, Sante.

Hell, if we start putting our future in the hands of the 70th best (was he that low?) Year 12 kid in the land by expecting him to play a major part in overcoming a KPP drama, then our prospects aren't overly flash.

Archibald played in country NSW and in Canberra before being drafted. Hardly elite junior level. He then missed almost all of last year with injury. He is probably two or three years behind most of his peers as a result so is a long-term prospect. He will be on the long learning curve like Ray Hall was.

In addition he is basically having to learn a new position. In juniors he played like Steve Johnson at Geelong, that sort of Blumfield role of tall half-forward flanker who runs around takes marks and kicks goals. For the NSW/ACT Rams he was basically a winger. He has never really played as a key position player and never as a defender.

Basically the club would have been thinking something like ... he is a member of the elite Under-18 scholorship program, he is the best player in NSW/ACT, he has had very little competitive football, he is athletic ... might as well use a late pick on him even though we don't know what AFL position he is suited to. Maybe something will click and we'll get a bargain.

Would be great if he developed into something usful.

I still have faith in Archie, watched a couple of his games towards the end of last year for Coburg and there is definately something there.

I see him as the CHB of the future.

Shultz is a forward, I am convinced he would be a better prospect up forward for us in years to come rather than down back, his games last year against Brisbane and Adelaide showed he could even be a dominating forward in years to come!
